I ask in another post what would be a good card for iL2... and based on thunders response I will get the X-Fi Fatal1ty Retail (not the gamer the one with the face plate for all imputs...)

My present rig is a ASUS P5AD2-Deluxe (chipset 925) with a P4 (550) 3.4 (overcloked at 3.6)

My other components are:

- Antec 450W PSU
- 2x raptor 10000rpm SATA HD
- 2x optical drives (DVDs)
- 3.5 floppy drive
- 2 gigs of Corsair XMS 5400 DDR2 RAM
- Video card is an ATI X850XT
- Case... well lets just say its c.r.a.p.
- And all other gixmoes... (TrackIR, CH Rudder Ped, X-52, etc.)

I think it is time for a change and I was thinking of the following setup :

- CASE (682$)

Koolance PC4-1026BK Black ATX Tower Case with 1KW Series Water Cooling Unit 3/8IN Fittings

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21602&vpn=PC...manufacture=Koolance (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21602&vpn=PC4-1026BK&manufacture=Koolance)

- Cooling bloc + Barbs

CPU cooling bloc(62$)

Koolance CPU-330 CPU Water Block 462/478/603/604754/775/939/940/AM2/1207 G1/4 Threads *No Barbs*

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22481&vpn=CP...manufacture=Koolance (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22481&vpn=CPU-330&manufacture=Koolance)

Chipset cooling blocs (40$CAD x2)

2X CHC-120-V06 (MB) [6mm, 1/4"] (Chipset - North and South bridge)

http://www.koolance.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=393

- Motherboard (340$ CAD)

Asus C2D Striker Extreme, Socket 775, NVIDIA nForc 680i SLI Chipset w/ PCI Express x16 (ATX)

http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=5539

- RAM (0$ http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif)

Keeping my Corsair (DDR2 667) for now and upgrading in the near future to 4 gig DDR2 800

- CPU (265$ CAD)

Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600, 2.40-GHz @ 1066Mhz w/ 4Mb Cache (Socket 775) (Retail Box) w/ Heat Sink & Fan

http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=4778

Hard drives (0$)

Keeping my SATA Raptors 10k RPM

Video Card (0$)

Keeping me ATI X850XT it as ample power for iL2 as I seem to be more CPU limited for now... and the new C2D should help a lot in this sence.

PSU (315$ CAD)

Enermax® GalaxyDXX 1000W ATX 12V Ver 2.2 Power Supply (Retail Box)

http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=5842

I'm thinking of such a powerfull PSU because I will most likely be running to power hungry monster in SLI when SoW comes out...

Sound card (200$ CAD)

SoundBlaster® X-Fi Fatal1ty™ FPS (Retail Box)

http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=3863

Same optical and floppy drives...

What you guys think... I don't have a lot of knowlegde of water cooling so imput on a better or equivelent but more cost effecient option is welcome as this one cost 824$... all inclusive (but excluding taxes and shipping this new monster will weight in at about 1,944 $ CAD).

Looks good.

One thing though.

That X850 is an AGP card if I'm not mistaken. Say bye bye to it if you are using a Striker Extreme.

How about that!

Learn something new every day http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I knew they back dated the X1950pro to AGP but I had no idea they bumped up such old cards to PCIE.

When it first came out the X85XT was the king of the hill (better then 6800gt) and was exclusively PCIe... only after a while did they make it AGP...

If you are getting 30 FPS or better in FB if I were you I would wait..... the $1000 rig of today will be @ $800 maybe less in 6 months... Unless you do something that is more intensive than FB.. I would just hold on to the cash... If you are worried about spending it then just drop it into a 6 month CD or something like that... but I'd wait. BoB will be out in what.... 6-16 months... ? Id wait for it if I were you.. unless your current rig is just performing so badly that you only get @15-25 FPS...

You better hurry up and upgrade before your money expires. New. Improved. Value added. Cooler kids compute on less than what you have. Hurry.

Well I'm getting between 50-70 FPS with some drop done to about 15-20 when low over a very large cities... and especially when FW/109 are lobbing MK108 every where http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But I do have some serious heat issue so I've decided to keep my upgrade for now at the following :

- Koolance Case and cooling blocs
- SoundCard - X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS

So in a few months when SoW comes out I'll be in a good position to buy the rest...
