Now that the P-40 doesnt explode randomly above 500kph who is flying it? Who is loving it? Who is hating it? I myself think it is great when set against it's contemporaries. If it's FM and the FM of the Jug is any indication then the Pony should be very sweet indeed. Of course it has the inline engine which is vulnerable to fire but still...it is nimble....handles well....dives and climbs good enough to let you be competitive in similsr era planes... I LIKE IT!!!!!!!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Can't fly it - the programme crashes to desktop whenever I try any P-40 or any Hurricane. Any ideas guys?

Yup I'm flying it. Great plane. I like it a lot.

Loads of character and fairly closely modeled to what I'd imagined it to be. For some reason I really prefer guns mounted on the wings too. So it has an extra bonus for me.

Sorry don't know about the crashing to desktop thing.

I really like the P-40,but to me it seems a little...sluggish. With all the posts about it being nimble,I'm wondering if it's just me. I don't think there's anything wrong with my joystick and the other planes(for the most part)seem to handle accurately...

I like it a lot after the patch. It is not Uber or overmodelled, but it flies well and I love the armament now. Flown against aircraft of a similar year(no La-7s or Doras please/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif ), it can hold its own.

Of course, since so many people like to host servers where every plane from 1939-1945 is available, many of the early war planes seem like crap. Take it for a spin offline though, against opponents that it actually flew against, and I think you will enjoy it.

When? In the QMB? Online? If this is the only time your computer crashes then maybe you got a corrupt installation of either FB or the patch. Make sure you download the patch form 3dGamers.

QMB, FMB, single missions & campaigns.

Got the patch from 3d Gamers.

Was thinking about re-installing - the original install was a bit challenging to say the least. Thanks for advice, will report back if I get 'em flying. It would have to happen with two of my favourite birds, wouldn't it? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The crash is almost certainly caused by the Mirrors. Fly an aircraft like the La7 or P47, and turn off the mirrors (sorry as I forget the default key, look it up in the key list if necessary). Although I thought this was fixed with the patch, it is easily corrected.

P.S. P-40 is my second favorite aircraft behind the FW190, both pre and post patch. Thanks to Radek for modelling such an interesting aircraft.

The P-40 sounds good. Will report back after downing a few sausage-eaters.

I think it's ok. I've had some trouble getting the guns to "kill", I was pegging another P40 today online, watching the flashed all over it, and only smoked the engine. Maybe my bad aim, though.

BTW, the mirror is now great. I could never run it before, now the hit is to small to worry with.

Thanks again guys -

I found the feild modded P-40 a bit sluggish, but the other versions are nice to fly - as long as I've remembered to drop the combat flaps before throwing them around.

And is it just me, or does the early P-40 jink to the left when letting rip with the guns?

Minor bug or accurately modelled quirk?

The few times I've flown my beloved P-40 after the patch I found the controls way too squirrely. Did any of you guys have to re-adjust sensitive or dead band? Dead band is increased to take the mush or jerkiness out of the controls, correct? What about the "filter" adjustment?
