Is it possible that anyone can help me with a corrupted.

One of my little ones has uninstalled SHIII and a few other game files,on me.

I've re-installed the game,but when I try to apply the patch,it fails,due to a unknown version.
Knowing my luck the other three txt files may be corrupt as well.

If anyone can be of assistance,I'd be extremely grateful.

Hi Grey_,

It€s a frequent occurrence with (Re-)-Installing SH III &/or the Patches.

Easiest solution is to locate each of those files in your SH III Install folder €" by default they€ll be in: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Menu €" then delete them.
After deleting the file(s) €˜at issue€ €" run the SH III Un-installer (Start -> All Programs -> Ubisoft -> Silent Hunter III -> Uninstall), and select €œRepair. This should replace the deleted file(s) with €˜fresh€ one(s) from the installer *.cab

If, for whatever bizarre reason that fails to remedy your issue, let us know which SH III Install version you have €" and we€ll find another route to resolve it: will just send you the files if needed €" but it won€t be€¦ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

..Best, & BOL!

PS. Grey €" also be 100% sure you€ve downloaded & are attempting to Install the Correct Patch for your Version of SH III.
If the above suggestion for €˜Repair€ doesn€t work & you€re still not able to install the Patch for the same stated-reason €" chances are the Patch Version is wrong. Then try to Download the correct patch version again €" but from a different source than the one you currently have.

Grey, what has happened is when the game was uninstalled, it left behind all 4 txt files in the SHIII folder. When you reinstalled the game, it left the files alone since they were already there instead of overwriting them. What you can do now is just delete all 4 of them and install the patch, since the patch will replace them anyway.

That€s right €¦ I somehow completely forgot that approach: that the patch-itself will do the same thing.

My bad & my apology €¦

Thanks for the input folks.
I had tried all of the above, that you suggested, before I posted.

The problem lay not within the txt itself.Like a prat,I'd made a copy of a number of files for tweaking and hadn't transferred one of them to another drive.

C'est la Vie,senility catching up on my advancing years.

Anyhow,again my thanks for your help,I hope I may reciprocate,one day. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
