Ask yourself:

What will I be using for control inputs?

Do I really want to be carrying a backpack full of peripherals with me?

How ******ed will I look at Starbucks with a TrackIR hat on and an X-52 jammed between my legs?

And finally, do I really think it's a good idea to play a flight sim on a laptop?

I would guess that the machine with the 6800 would do a better job, however, it depends on the resolution of the panel, and what res you will run the game at. If you ran both at same res, the probably the 6800 would more than compensate for the slower CPU.

Course, I'm a "big screen" junkie, and after seeing how my wife's Dell 17" 1920x1200 Go6800 Ultra runs the game, I wouldn't want to dial it back any. 30 fps with 4xAA and 4XFA.

ok, let me just say this cause i found out the hard way, laptops are not meant to be for gaming unless you spend 1700 or the equvilent in dollars. Build yourself a desktop PC, it's cheaper and better, or a barebones system. I have a 6800GT graphics card in my machine, but i will be upgrading soon, so A) dont get the laptop with the 6600 in it and B) you can't upgrade laptops like desktop PC's so you'd be wasting a lot of money, games coming out this year and next year are going to require more than that to run them, there is about to be a huge leap in graphics cards especially with PhysX coming out soon. FPS also depends on what game your running, and as your into flight sims i'm not sure the specs for BOB coming out, so my advice is dont buy a laptop for the above reasons alone, i could go on all day. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Poll option number three: None

There are no good gaming laptops. Even the dedicated gaming laptops are only barely able to present an enjoyable gaming experience with a game such as this. They are ideal and designed for basic windows applications.

I'm voting Laptop 1 because of the heaftier CPU which you really need but its still not going to be great.

well maybe it is but only for the time being, as you can't upgrade it that well, it wont run that well, overheating issuses, and plus it costs too much.

A laptop is never the way to go, some laptops will do decent gaming but Simulators will never run well enough on a laptop. Most RAM on video cards for laptops are usually half onboard half System Memory being delegated to being video RAM

I just built a better PC for 1/3 of what you'll pay for that.

But seriously, whats up with the PF laptop, anyway? Always on the move?

The best computers are the ones that are paid for and do not crash!

I've been playing on a laptop, 1.7-512-128 9700 (ATI mobility= http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif) for the last year, and I get quite reasonable results, happy with excellent 1400*1050*16, and less than 40 planes (cockpit on, I prefer fps >40)

Some of the static campaigns, I've had to delete ground objects that were out of mission area, but I think it is quite possible, if not desirable, to have a good sim experience on a laptop... if you *have to* get one.

Really a laptop is a mobile computer, and will always be a compromise in term of upgradability and extra cost, but may well play games ok.
