View Full Version : Fancy ffb questions

What happens if I use two ffb devices http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif ? Say, two sticks or a stick and a wheel? Do I have feedback on both devices?

Anyone knows of experiments or something about ffb rudders?

I'm fancying hacking a ms ffb wheel to build a ffb rudder http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif - but does the game support it?

No answers?

It would have to be coded into the game, the FFB effects are the result of the game engine responding to cues and feeding them back to the relevant axis on the controller.

Hm, I've been thinking about that too.
But have decided not to try, as with your feet, forces applied to rudder pedals can/will be a lot bigger than with your hands.. looks to me a sure way to stress out the FFB...
(Talkin' about home built rudders here, not with sliding panels, but a rotating bar with footholds on it. With this thing (it's a heavy wooden bar mounted on a VW Beetle's rear-wheel ballbearing) I can really KICK rudder ;-)

B16Enk: yes, it's clear. But think at this example: two ffb sticks connected, first xy->roll/pitch, second xy->rudder/something.
When a stall approaches, the first stick will shake. Will the second do the same?

FoolTrottel: my thinking took the same direction. And yes, a long time ago I built my own rudder pedal set in the same config - except it was quite fragile... I made it from a crate of italian wines... Er, are you german? 'cause this thing can tell a lot... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry, my poor english.
I sometime work with german guys - friends I can say - and we like to remark our people "weaknesses"... like saying we Italians do things with rubber band and tape.

My rudder was a sort of "pass thru", representing the fourth axis of a 3-axes stick. It worked fine with my old MS sidewinder, but didn't work with the MS FFB (1 and 2).

Then I bought a TM HOTAS system, TQS+F22+Elite... money thrown in the trash, I must say... Only now that games can handle multiple input devices I can use the Elite rudder pedals... The f22 is obsolete now, but I never managed to make it work reliably - and when TM answered me I had to change the pots, I went so hungry I decided not to touch it anymore.
Now, my son (2 years and a half) is the proud owner of the f22. About the TQS, I'm fancying an USB rebuild... we'll see.
