Spit! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

good planes 2 fly
IL-2 3M BIG guns, decent turn, but no speed...

Bf110 Big guns, some speed, some turn... Great cockpit!

Buffalo, just a good plane 2 fly...

P51D, if you know how, it's a great plane 2 fly... So is FW190...

109 is great too...

So is the SDB (and it's a beaut if you've got Major Albert Cooleys skin on it)...

Oh dear, I just can't seem to pick one. Can you?

MY SIG!! The Ki-84Ic model though. x2 20mm cannon and x2 30mm cannons, bomber killers with fighter turns. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The thing with World War II is that there are quite a few planes that fit the kinds of descriptions your after. Given those general characteristics theres quite a few but all of them have their quirks as well. For instance compare the Spitfire and the Zero...both have excellent turn rates but the Spitfires turn is not equal to the Zero's turn because speed at which the best turn is reached is a significant factor.

Also the issue of guns is a bit more complex too...in the late war arena the German planes have some great armaments in the form of the MK108 30mm cannon which fires through the nose on the late 109 models (G-10, G-14, and K-4) but the ballistics and velocity are bad so its a close in weapon only. The Tempest Mark V arguably has one of the most potent armament configurations in the game but suffers from having that armament pretty far out on the wings so aim and convergence is an issue (i.e. where the two sets of guns meet).

Wikipedia is a great place to do some research on the different plane types. I can provide some suggestions but ultimately you need to go and fly a bunch and see what you like the best.

I would suggest that you try the following types:

Bf109 - Roughly 14 models to choose from but the G-10 and K-4 are most common on the dogfight servers. Fast, well armed, turns well at low speeds and is quite stable but at high speed the controls tend to stiffen and become useless.

Yak-3 - Three versions available but everyone chooses the Yak-3P because of the added firepower (three 20mm cannons in the nose). Decently fast, very tight turn and fast roll rate, suffers from not being able to dive very fast and is has a fair bit of torque during the turns which means allot of rudder work.

Spitfire - By far the most popular aircraft in the online dogfight servers. Most of the models are similar save for armament. Typically available in clipped wing and non-clipped variations. Armament is decent, turn rate is generally good to excellent at medium speeds, and some controls are responsive but roll rate is lower at high speed. The Spitfire was designed in real life to be easy to fly but responsive and capable...its a jack of all trades fighter and its very good at what it does. Often its good to try something other than the Spitfire so that you don't learn to rely on its "do everything well" abilities. The Spitfire models we have are not the fastest ones of the war and don't stack up against the best late war fighters for speed.

Tempest Mark V - Another British fighter. The Tempest is very fast, extremely well armed, turn is decent in short amounts (but will bite you back if you pull too hard or too long), but requires allot of engine management to keep it cool and performing at optimum levels.

Ki-84 - A Japanese fighter from the late war...some say its the best Japanese fighter of World War II. Arguably one of the better dogfight aircraft as its fast, light, well armed, turns decently and good for almost everything. Armament ranges from good to excellent depending on model. Less well protected fuel tanks means hits to the tanks will commonly cause the plane to burn (other areas of the aircraft are well protected).

N1K-2J - Another Japanese fighter...slower than most of the others listed here but with a powerful engine, good armament, and a very tight turn. Is equipped with an automatic combat flaps system that engages the flaps for tighter turns. Can be helpful or it can cause you to stall the plane if you're not careful. Very well protected...particularly for a Japanese plane.

This is just a few...so many to choose from...but these meet some of your criteria. Almost all of them can potentially down a target fighter in mere moments if the guns are well aimed so firepower varies...depends on what you like. All of them have different turn capabilities at different speeds...you need to fly each of these or other types to really find out.
