I was in a quick mission set up trying out a few things, I set up a F6F-5 against a H8K1 Large Japanese Sea Plane.

I swung in behind it and let off a few rounds and they fired back as I was coming behind it one of there waist gunners let loose with a few rounds , not that much!

Anyway to the point I heard a couple of rounds hit my ship and I tipped into a nose dive with the Words STALL to the right hand side of my Cockpit, I tried to move back nothing was on so I F2'd outside for a look!

And I couldn't believe what I seen, just behind the cockpit it I take it the little radio mast with a wire to the tail and one down just behind the mast itself, well from that point where the wire comes down into the craft from there back there was nothing! it was a clean cut, the whole fuselage and tail section were gone? as I said it looked like a clean cut!

Now I have seen the fuselage and tail sections of Zero's come away, but should the same happen to a F6F-5 with just a couple of hits?

Some of the gunners on that monster have 20mm cannons. Haven't played around with it much as yet - something to try this evening http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was in a coop with Ivan. He took my aft end off of my F6F-5 with very little hits from a Zero. Ya, 20MM, but I did not hear or even register a hit before my aircraft started tumbling. About 5 tracers whent by my cockpit. I want to check the F6F's damage out. See if it's porked or not. I did not think anything of that till I read your report. The F6F was a Grumman. Need I say more? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've gotta say, nothing is scarier than hearing the 20mm cannon hits.
First time i felt those bouncing my plane around i jumped

I dont hear 20MM hits at all. Or any hits for that matter. A lot of time my aircraft starts rolling to one side and I look out the window to find someone blew off my wing! No sounds. No shake. Nothing. You getting hit sounds?

I get hit sounds - very loud in my head phones, its a most unwelcome wake up call http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ivan was in a Ki-84 and he pounded you for some time before your tail came off. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well, not sure of the F6F... but those wildcats sure are very resistant... u can fire at them the whole day....

In fact, I down Hellcats easier than wildcats, either in Zekes or in oscars... Weird

Like I said, I get no damage sound or anything to tell me that I am getting hit. I only saw a very few 20MM tracers go by and just started rolling. I thought I only got hit a little. I need to check this out.

Screen should shake too Gibbage...odd that it doesn't.

I hear the hits, the screen shakes a bit, its quite jarring to get hit and not know whats going on...but yeah, the sound is very pronounced for me.

In my experience shooting Hellcats they are tougher than Corsairs. In a Ki-84b with 4x20mm I spent half my ammo load trying to bring down a Hellcat...in some cases I got them, in others I didn't...rarely did I take the tail section off. Its hard...to say the least.

Hits from cannons scare the **** out of me, especially when they are the surprise! kind from AAA.

Both Grummans lose aileron control very very easily. It's probably the mosst common damage I get.
