Hello,

when I fly a I-16 it's not possible to control the landing gear.
The key 'g' does nothing.

Does anybody know why?

The I-16 has manual gear so you have to winch it yourself. Can't remember if there are default ones set so you have to set a button for raise and lower gear.

Haven't seen this question in ages. Welcome fmerlin.

You must assign (map)a key to raise and lower your gear for planes that only have manual gear.

Cheers.

I do believe the landing gear needs to be retracted and lowered manually on this kite by allocating the command to the up and down arrow keys.

You must go into "controls" section and map a key for manually raising and lowering landing gear. When you want to raise or lower, you will have to hit the key about 40 times in succession. This simulates the hand crank used in the real aircraft. Same goes for the F4F Wildcat. I'm not sure if it applies to any others or not. When pressing the key assigned, if you look down in the cockpit, you can see the hand crank spinning and you can also hear it.

The manual crank works in most of the planes in the game. Very handy when you've had your IL2m3 shot up badly and the gear doesn't come down when you push the button.

The F4 is the same way. There is no default key.. map it to whatever you want.. just remember it.

I Like Ctrl+g for lower manual and Shift+g for raise manual. See, that way my brain equates the shift key as bieng higher and higher = raise. Personal preference though.

fmerlin, by default it is shift+g to raise and shift+n to lower. You need to hold the shift and repeatedly tap the other key a million times to go it though.

Enjoy the I16 and always try to get the bandit into a turn fight with it (for most AC)
