if you didnt like them you wouldnt have to use them but i would particularly like a 360º field of view, a 180º would be good also

again you dont like them you dont have to use them

i cant even imagine how a 360º view would be but some would find it cool and belonging to the kind of stuff what makes you think

On a flat screen it would become disorienting for me and actually take away the realism of frontal limited vision. Plus I think it would require a tremendous amount of processing power and not very usable for most.

Full real guys would have none of it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Get TrackIR.

Try Quake - you could set FieldOfView to 180deg. You didn't see a thing at these levels. The usual field of view was only 3x3cm wide. Would be interesting to see how you would shoot and fly with a gunsight roughly 10pixels wide in 1280x1024. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Magnetic boots and automatic pilot anyone.....

... just for those crazy fly boys that like to wing walk during a long flight to stretch their legs while doing 300 mph.

While we are at it. Where is my pink fluffy dice for the mirror, self guiding nuclear missile with IFF and "over the horizon" capabilities.

P.s., Why won't my mossie fly constantly verticle until it reaches planetary egress.

Never did fighure out why UAV's, thermal vision, and hi resolution spy satellites are not moddeled in game.

Or do you mean being able to rotate your virtual head 360 degrees in every axis?
That was the most irritating thing in my old CFS2 days. Getting a padlock on the enemy through the bottom of the pilots seat.

myself have a 180º view so im asking for reality

right is someone else hasnt done it before is stupid but whos the stupid if you need to be told whats stupid and whats not, if is not in the game is stupid

and to all the guys who think that are very smart and im some kind of ******, you are counted by the fingers of the hands doenst make any difference if you post more

Are you sure what that is?

Maybe flying full switch for a while may give you some answers before your post again on the forums.

raaaid, you have a fov of 180 deg? Sorry to hear you're sick. Usually humans have a sight of 200-210deg.

But that means 105? from your center view. I'd like to see that kind of monitor. Or do you use an imax 360? projector in your private cinema?

So much to your realism...

I'm a dreamer I would like a Info/vid output file that could be read by a home networked computer/s then take the old system we all have and use them for side views and insterments. then you would not need a TrackIR you would just look ot the window/montor

Since the title of this thread seems to indicate that you're asking for opinions, here's mine:

Q: Why not to revolution bob with never seen before views (like a 360º view)?

A: I see a good reason for not doing that: because 1C:Maddox's coding time and resources will be better invested in other, more useful/relevant features and improvements (particularly when considering that we will be displaying the result on a flat screen, not very large, giving the user a ~30º-40º field of view (FOV) relative to that screen).

All this thread did was give me the pipedream of the local Imax letting me hook up my computer. That would be spectacular.

How about triple monitor support using nVidia or ATI graphics cards?

That could give you a much wider field of view.

i hate to say it but cfs2 had a close to 180º view and it was great

all im suggesting is to be able to increase the field of view to a more realistical level

The point is, as I see it, that fitting a 180º view of the 'virtual world' into a screen that is taking 30º of our actual, physiological FOV, will distort everything so very much that it can hardly be considered 'more realistic'. It would be like using a fish-eye lens. For it to be actually more realistic, it should be displayed on a screen that would take the whole visual field of the player. They exist (see below) but are extremely expensive currently.

About lager screens providing a wider FOV, see this post from a recent (1 week ago) and not very long thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/5301078914):

Originally posted by DaimonSyrius:

-Use larger screens, or multi-monitor systems. For instance, VisionStation by Elumens (http://www.elumens.com/products/visionstation.html):

http://www.elumens.com/products/images/vs-image-geek-full-001.jpg

Should work better than our conventional 17"/30º screens, but it's rather expensive, of course.

For more discussion of FOVs and improper use of "zoomed" and "normal" terms, see this post (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/6411096363/r/9121067363#9121067363) on a thread from several months ago.

Cheers,
S.
