I have been running 4.07m without a problem on the client machine. I patched to 4.071m several times but it will not take.

407m is the recently released Sturmovik 1946 DVD.

When you say the patch doesn't take, what exactly happens?

The game starts up as 4.07m. I was hoping not to go through the whole installationa nd patching again. I have the download addon for 1946.

The only thing I can think of is to double, double check that it's installing the files (I think there's just 3 or 4 in the patch) in the right folder. I don't know exactly what that would be with the download version of 4.07. Maybe the patch is assuming you have the DVD version of 4.07, which may have a different folder structure than the download version. Just a guess.

If your using the NoCD .exe, the patch may not be overwriting it.

Not likely.

The patch replaces a couple of files and thats it.

Gun-ace, if you clicked through the part where it asks you about where the software is, assuming that it knew already, then you may want to double check that. Be absolutely sure that its going into the directory where you installed the game. Particularly if you're using something other than the default (I have all my games on D drive so I always have to change the drive letter).

Ok, but isn't one the .exe? I know it also adds a coupla files and replaces the files.sfs. I am out of town now and can't check. Your call..

No sweat... the 4.08m final is supposed to be out tomorrow, so you needn't worry about the 4.071m beta any more. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks to all of you that replied. Some of the suggestions pointed me in the right direction. But not before the almost obligatory erase and reinstall of course. The 1946 download installs to a separate directory:"program Files /ubisoft/il-2 sturmovik 1946" while the PF+AEP+FB is in the "Program Files/Ubi Soft/" directory. The patches to 1946 default to the "IL-2 sturmovik 1946" directory but have to be applied to the "il-2 sturmovik forgotten battles" directory for them to take/work. I wonder if this installer behaviour is the same for the 1946 DVD version?

With the DVD version, it is a completely separate install of everything (new and old stuff) into a new directory. You don't even have to have "forgotten battles" on your computer.

Since the download version, is (I guess) just a patch on top of the existing forgotten battles version, it would make sense that they're intertwined like that, and you'll have keep both the old forgotten battles directory and the new 1946 directory for the game to work.

Where is the DVD version available in the US?

It hasn't been officially released in the US. Right now it's just available from a one or two on-line vendors, who import it. I got mine from gogamer.com for $49.99. I've ordered several things from them with no problems.

have found someone with a really odd problem relating to the installation of V.4.08.
With an original disc either 4.07 or 4.071 (it makes no difference) 4.08 begins to install but right at the end of the installation gives an error message and fails to install fully. The game works fine with either 4.07 or 4.071 installed. Anyone any ideas what this might be?
