Since Bob is a ways off I was considering upgrading my video card now and then a new machine when Bob comes out.

Is the new 7800GTX worth it?I found some good prices on the web at:

I have one of those. They're nothing special.

I heard they push 7000 on 3d 2005 at stock speeds, which is pretty impressive. I could have gone for one of those...if it wasn`t for me being ATI fanboy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ...

Pricing is pretty good indeed... can i call your vendors B man? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Anandtech has an extensive review with very, very impressive results and I think the finest conclusion in a long time for an NV product. It is a worthy next generation product.

I'll bounce off Ivan here ...

Think about it ... soon the R520 will be out. Nice to have both favors to choose from (7800 and ATI X900 - G70).

If it lives up to it's specs it will be at least 24 pipes, cooler, need less power and my be faster. One never knows, it might be cheaper too. I run 28 systems in our lab, all 3.0 to 3.2GHz with 6800 Ultras, X800 XL and 4 X850XT PE. They all do great and the 7800 would be MUCH faster.

But the X850 has the best dang image.

Either way ... unless you hate ATI it makes sense to wait to see what they turn up.

pfft... ATI is vapourware to Nvidia

I was sick as a dog when I bought my Geforce6800 Ultra 256, and found out 1 week later about this card... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I am thinking about the 7800 in SLI.. when they get the bug out..Also, will need 4400+ chip,, maybe dual CPUS..Next year. (Fudo looks nice though (?$)

Well, I am getting 6618 3DMark05 with this R480 X850XT and my little ol' rig. FUDO is the next big thing. Nvidia is always first to launch and last in line.

skuttlebutt is that Nvidia will launch its high end 7 series after the R520 Fudo launch. Hmmm. wonder if they will include the PhysX chip.. yathink?

NVidia already have SLI8x and SLI16X antialiasing out in the latest driver. ATI is too slow on this, also ATI has opnly just introduced shard 3.0
My SLI 6800GT gets 9700 on the 3DMark, not bad eh!
And then there's the 7800....pretty obvious where it's going, read any of the test forums. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif
