After getting the game and playing offline for a few months, I decided to get online.
Other times, I'd tried but the maps weren't so populated...until tonight!
All I can say is, WOW!
First time my palms have gotten all sweaty like that. I got shot down many times, but did manage one kill.
It was even on the pf standalone ubisoft server. I think there were 13 at one time. Very good time. Didn't really do any talking because i can't type and fly at the same time very well yet. Looking forward to jumping on again soon.

Yes Hyperlobby is one place you want to check out for sure. Lots of servers to choose from. You can actually survive longer than 15 seconds at a time on some the busiest servers. Also, many of the dedicated servers offer Teamspeak which adds to the fun. I've just got online recently after years offline and have learned a lot from watching the more competent pilots. Flying wing with someone who has more experience is also a good way to accelerate your learning curve.

Have fun and "welcome to the madness" as tsisqua used to say.
