http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Very nice pictiures! In particular I like the "baby invader" in the first pic - looks so weak and lonely...
And what is a helicopter doing on the deck of the Zeppelin Carrier? If I'm not mistaken the first combat use of a helicopter was in late April 44, with a Sikorsky YR 4 doing a Medevac flight in Burma.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You see a Fi-282 Kolibri, which was tried out in WW2 according to wikipedia.

I like the overlapping dual rotors of the Kolibri. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

One turns clockwise , the other the opposite way to counter the torque. Its another way to eliminate the turning moment instead of using an tail rotor.

Some helicopters use this method even today. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Yes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But i think the name "Havoc" was given to the Mi-28. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The Ka 50 uses the same patent like Kolibri but in a slightly different set up.

The Havoc has the second rotor above the other. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/33/ka50heli750pixfh1.jpg

While the Kolibri had them side by side in a angle which let the rotor circles overlap each other. First flight : April 1942

But the very first helicopter flew already at an airshow, 1936 in Berlin and was flown by famous female pilot Hanna Reitsch http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Planned usage was : Recon , submarine hunt, mine laying but only the recon version could be finished and found little usage.

This pic propably shows a captured one in test flight by the u.s army

http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/8946/flettner282airbornehr2.jpg

This model shows the rotor set up pretty good.

I know of an u.s made rescue and firefighter helicopter that uses exactly the same set up, because it gives it better manouverability in the dangerous air streams above burning forests.

Anyone knows the name or has an pic ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Now i know which helicopter it is. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its the Kaman K-Max. Its the only helicopter in the world that uses the "Flettner Doppelrotor" patent.

I saw a docu about it today. It has also a very unique rotor sound, totally different from a normal helicopter.

The one on the pic belongs to a bavarian company which uses it for the air transportion of cut down trees.

Its the only helicopter that can do this because of the dangerous air streams in the mountains. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Imagine, 45k AND all that cash you'd save on buying presents too!

A container ship, believed to be one of the biggest seen in the UK, has arrived in a Suffolk port to unload 45,000 tonnes of Christmas goods from China.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/antsmith/_42277628_bigsship203.jpg

Hundreds of spectators lined the shore to watch the Emma Maersk as it was guided into Felixstowe by three tugs.

The ship is a quarter of a mile long, 200ft high and as wide as a motorway.

Her cargo of toys, books, computers, Christmas crackers, decorations and food, is destined for Britain and mainland European countries.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
