I was looking through some of the very first posts for the forums all the way back to 2003 in fact and found this.

Can you you still do this?

yes you can, but it does not show in all the cockpits, just stuff like the He111

This was a feature in the original IL-2 Sturmovik game but it was deactivated in Forgotten Battles. Even in IL-2 Sturmovik it only affected three or four planes and the blood was visible in the external view only. There is no blood in the cockpit view.

At the time that 'gore' was possible, only one flyable plane even utilized it -- one of the Bf109F models I believe -- and like I said it only showed in the extenal view. The other planes that had it were the He-111 (at that time and AI only plane) and the Soviet MBR float plane. In the case of the He-111 the blood only shows in the nose stations.

I've posted screenshots of this feature several times in these forums and I'm sure you'll find them if you do a further search on the High Gore topic.

It's a shame it's not available in all aircraft, or at least changing the pilot or crewman from being upright to a slumped posture if he is killed. Of course, that might invoke a stricter video game age rating.

The config entry should really read:

Sundryaircrewaccaisionallyleanforward= 1

Gunners slump forward when they are killed.

Good hunting,
