Hi, guys. Just wanted to say thanks to you, leadSpitter, for dusting my 6 off real good . . .
And Zen, it was good flying with you online as well.

It's very good to see forum people online. It is almost like meeting celebrities. (well, sort of . . . )

Thats one of the things I like about this place. On one of my early ventures onto HL I saw Oleg in a server and it blew me away. One of the early questions most new people ask here is "Who's Oleg?" When I saw him online I was like "Cool!!"

dont thank leadspitter.........next game you join he will be on the other team.........then you will understand why people call him leadspitter

about oleg online in games. about 2 months back when I first came here there was a guy that kept chatting with me over a period of about a week, I thought he was somebody that remembered me from another sim so after about a week of casual brief chat, I asked how I knew him. he told me that he never played a previous game with me and that he was oleg himself, but under a different name. now was this guy pulling my leg. I would like to think I am stupid not gullable.

I've had the pleasure of seeing a few
people from here on servers, and flew about
with A.K. Davis once, but there are many
people here I would like to have the pleasure
of flying with one day. Mind you, it would
show up my terrible piloting skills!

It was great to see you there Tsisqua, I agree on the feeling of 'meeting famous people' http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry if I appeared to be short, the Ta152 was straining my nerves last night and I decided that I had better quit while I was ahead, I had that vein throbbing alarmingly don't know you.

I enjoyed seeing you there, looking forward to it again. Not sure about this evening, I'm going to stay up late and watch the India-Pakistan cricket match, but definately sometime over the weekend I'll be back on BM357. I'll probably be more chatty too, just sometimes I get pretty wound up in the dogfighting and don't have time to talk.

And good to finally 'meet' you in a server http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll admit it - when I see a forum celeb in an HL game...I get the hell in there to try my hand.... and usually have something handed to me. Invariably the celebs are great to fly with - fun to chat up, great pilots, and excellent teachers.

I'm a fairly multi-cultural kind of fellow, so while I wouldn't say that I'm really into cricket (nor sports in general), I do like it yes.

That was a fun server last night outside of the insanely timed lag/stutters I would get while on the tail of a bandit. Ugh!

Getting used to flying full real across the board is interesting, for sure.

More than once I was looking over my shoulder at an approaching aircraft trying to figure out if it was friendly or not.. figuring it out when they would open fire.. hehe..

I wasn't flying any plane that I was familiar with, because I went 'blue' to keep things even (I hate when it is 10 on 1, and the next guy in makes it 11!) . I tried my hand at the 110, and switched to gunner when LeadSpitter got on my 6, and not to provide cover, either. The rear guns in the 110 are awesome, but short on loadout.

I finally settled for the 109K, and yes, there he was again! Making sure that my K had plenty of pretty flames coming out of it.

I really wanted to find a server that would let me fly, and die, in the P-38. When I saw the forum names on the server, I really didn't care what the settings were, I just wanted to chat with some people in real-time, and maybe learn a thing or two. I've learned that I need to learn more.

Well it just so happens that I really enjoy shooting down P38's lol, though I prefer to fly them over anything else on Red if available, so perhaps we can link up online and either do some winging or have a few go arounds at each other.

Either is good for me, I'm no expert on anything but am always willing to chat about things, I learn alot that way too.

See you soon hopefully!

I've been having a blast flying the P-38! I was taking up a pair of 1000lb bombs and taking out 2-3 tanks each run on that server... and that the rockets were rather effective on the light AFVs before mixing it up with the fighters in my poor lil '38. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

While we're all here talking about last night's adventures... anyone have some suggestions on what to do about those stutters? Is there anything I can do on my end to help that out in my settings, or is that mainly a server-side issue?

I'm running:

512mb RD-RAM
ti-4200 128mb
1.5mbs cable service

Butcher, if you are talking about the pauses when someone spawns, I don't think that there is anything that can be done about that. And it always comes at the most inopportune moments. I believe that it is better now than it used to be, though.

I highly recomend a gig of ram, although 512 will still be giving you pretty good results. If IRC, there are also stutters when you run out of ram cache, and that's why I'd say a gig would be better.

I've also found that lowering my graphic settings, just for onlinee play, helps a good deal, although I am sure that you have tweaked till you are blue in the face.

Good seeing you.

Find out what the netspeed of the server is and match your settings.

For example, War-Clouds uses 8000, so I set mine to 8000 also.

>set netspeed 8000

I don't think BM has terrible lag at all, but it is higher than it used to be...no dedicated server means they are running a full install of AEP which is a tough way to host, especially when it stays up a long time.

Things will surely settle down some when the DS for AEP is finally released, because I never used to have any lag there. It's a good server.

Sometimes I play with crickets but after awhile their legs start to fall off and I feel bad http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
