I was tired of my Logitech FF Wingman with it's twitchy rudder. I've been thinking about an X45 for a while, but I couldn't make a decision.

Finally, today I was in BB and I saw it for $79 with a $20 rebate. I bought it.

The only things I am concerned about are the rudder controls and the lack of force feedback. I got used to feeling the plane, feeling the stall approach, etc.

Well, anyways, if anyone is interested the rebates ends today (12/31).

Do yourself a favor and immediately use the Saitek programming software to program the modes for FB. I had the X-45 for 5 months before the day I decided to make a profile. I realized that before I did that I was using 50% of my X-45. Now I have evey usable command prgrammed and its great.

I too like the feeling of FF. It does help in the immersion factor. Logitec did a good job with FF. Tho the stick wasn't very reliable.
I personally know of 2 people that had theirs 6 months and the rudder was KAA KAA, Mine would make three.

Oh well, X45 is great HOTAS, even without the FF.

Good luck
Robert

I'd bring it back and get an X52 instead http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Negative!!!

Keep the X45..... Get a set of Rudder pedals and use the rudder rocker on the X45 for flaps. Then........get this... http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/images/page_graphics/thumbs/evo_force.gif (http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/joysticks.htm)..... Saitek EVO FFB.... Unless of course you can find a MSFFB stick somewhere around. This sim supports multiple controllers... therefore you can use the X45.... as one controller... place the stick portion off to the side, above the throttle....and use IT as a button bay.... use the throttle... and fly with the FFB stick. Toss in ruddrpedals and you have the best of both worlds... HOTAS/FFB/Rudder Pedals.....

I dont know how the forces are on the Saitek stick.. but since it is one of two FFB sticks out....... I wonder if they are coming out with a FFB X52?

I'll stick with what I said - get an X52...

And an Evo FFB lol http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The X45 stick sucks bigtime IMHO (Throttle is OK)
Evo (non FFB) is great... only stick better is a M$ FFB (now if only you could get THAT) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm still (for a long time now) wondering WHY don't saitek bring out a stand alone throttle ??? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

... and I'm gonne kick billieboy in the balls when and if ever i meet him for dicontinueing the FFB sticks....

... And if you dont believe me...

I've had an X45 for over 6 months and it's never been out of the box. I have this big fear it will mess up my flying. I'm using an old MS Precision Pro twisty stick. I like the twisty stick.

*shakes hands*

Same here, just the center position is getting a bit of free play.

Usually I smash the stick around so violently I don't notice that anymore http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
