View Full Version : Who said points do not matter? ... They were mistaken.

12-29-2004, 04:38 AM
Well points aren't everything, they are the only thing. At least according to this recent intensive study. I finally decided to disprove the myth that online point accumulations were meaningless. I believe many of you will be shocked with my findings.

Brief description of the study:
I entered an online server entitled "Warclouds_WF", it seemed like a popular server with a high concentration of aces. I proceeded to fly a B-25 because I did not want to get shot down during my study. This particular server had an idle kick so I had to devise a method of going afk for an extended period of time. I climbed to 5,000 meters, leveled out my plane, started to record an .ntrk, and went afk. I then left and proceeded to drink ale and be merry. Upon my return 2 hours later, I left the server and studied every pilot in my recording. The results were shocking, to say the least.

The results of the study when displayed in graphic format are linear. Of course, according to David Hume, we cannot imply causation, but this suggests a high correlation between high point accumulations and being an ace.

Sir Robin is a paranoid schizophrenic suffering from random cases of self-depricating humility. At these times he feels it necessary to enter the forums under a pseudoname...i.e. little john. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

These psychological issues usually don't present with dangerous tendencies or suicidal ideations unless left untreated so I emplore you to seek professional psychological help...soon. I only hope we caught it early enough. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

You mean you watched a 2 hours .trk of an online server and watched all maneuvers and fights from every perspective of every single pilot in the game? Or how did you estimate one's an ace and didn't just vulch or bomb the mission-target? LOL!

Come on, you must be kidding or RBJ http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

LOL! Sir.Robin's chart gave me a laugh and a half. Good one.

BTW, Badsight... are you looking to get banned by CrazyIvan? You left him down at the chart's origin! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

And do you have actually have any proof for those changes you've made to that chart? I'd like to see some additional charts presented to prove that your changes to Sir.Robin's charts are really worth charting in the first place. I will understand if the source data is secret though.

I don't want to whine, but I personally feel that the bottom bar of the chart is way too high, and blocks other names from view. Maybe if the chart were drawn by someone sitting on a parachute or thick phonebook it would give a better view. I don't have any proof of this though. No charts I mean.

I only fly the B-25 online as well, and have never been shot down. It's the man, not the machine ya know..

If this thread gets to 3 pages, it will be a sad day for these forums.

hmm...interesting...if you say, the more points the more ace, what if said 'High scoring Ace' was a vulcher,ship/vehicle bomber? showing no flying ability. And if you say the less points, the less an ace you are, what if a pilot brought down loads of planes, but never landed, therefore having low points?
