I just re-installed the original IL2. Love the throaty sound of the planes, the quick loads, and the blazing FPS even with heavy action. The simplicity is nice, too.

Can anyone poiint me to a site where there are any tools for the original IL2? Mission generators or campaigns or anything at all?

Thanks!

Airwarfare.com used to have a page of IL-2 utilities but it seems to have disappeared. I haven't scoured Mission4Today for 'essentials' for original IL-2 Sturmovik, but it seems at a glance that most of the downloads are for FB and beyond. I haven't checked Netwings at all.

I'd venture a guess that most of the IL-2 download sites have 'gone out of business' or have updated their stock, so to speak, for the FB series.

However, I do happen to have a small archive of IL-2 Sturmovik files on my harddrive that I can e-mail components of to you. What I have includes:
- Dynamic Campaign Generator (zipped, 965 kb).
- Hardball's Aircraft Viewer (unzipped and with loose files but includes installer, 6.47 MB).
- IL-2 MAT v1.1 (1.11 MB total for two zip files and a loose file).
- IL-2 STAB (1.96 MB zipped).
- IL-2 Manager v2.1 (8 MB zipped).
- Quick Mission Generator v1.0a (2.52 MB zipped).
- "Swastika Enabler" (22 Kb).

I have a few other things also like campaigns, voices and skins. PM me if interested, we'll figure something out.

Here are some Links to campaigns and missions (http://airwarfare.com/simnetwork/index.php?name=Downloads&c=9)
This is a link to the IL-2 essential downloads (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/IL2/files/essentials/), just plain links as no page exists for these for anymore. Most essential files were updated following the release of FB, hence the small number of surviving files.

Hey, you guys are great. Thanks for all that.

I'm really enjoying the old IL2. Again. As fun as '46 is, sometimes you just like something sweet and simple that works in all situations. (Like twenty Me-109s hitting dozens! of bombers and escorts over Berlin with silky smooth FPS.)
