I noticed there was a gore setting in the ini file anyone ever used this?

It's leftover from the original Il-2 Game, has no effect on current versions

It does have an effect on several AC. Basically the pilot or gunner slumps over when hit if you change it from =0 to =1. It affects very few planes and was a feature that was never completely developed.

you could do what I do...open up on 'em and smarsh a ketchup packet with your fist simultaneous like so that the ketchup gets all over the monitor....then call Fido in from the yard to clean it off...or just swipe it with your fries like a good lil' 'merican fastfood guzzler would do. Monitors get crusty after awhile, but you get used to the smell...

and if you want more realistical immersion, you should ask for pilots to puke on themselves or suffer incontinence when they are engaged and to shake uncontrollably just afterward from adrenal shock.... I dont want to tell you how I simulate that stuff...suffice to say it isnt pretty.

talk about real-ism.

The gore I seen was in the single missions, I choose a mission one where I was a rear gunner US over PH.

I got hit serveral times and my vision went a cloudy pink as if blood was running down my face.

I F2'd outside and nothing no blood anything, so I could only see it through my own eyes so to speak.

I don't think that the screen turning red when you're hit has anything to do with the Gore settings.

In the original IL-2, there were two or three planes where enabling gore made a very slight difference: in exterior views, there would be a reddish smear on the cockpit glass. I can't remember which planes were affected for sure, but I'm thinking that it was the Bf 109F and the He-111. Whatever planes it affected, it carried over for the same aircraft in Forgotten Battles ... but as was stated, the feature wasn't further developed.

I don't think it enables the pink-to-red washover that hazes your vision when you're wounded; I think that effect was a new feature introduced in FB along with the 'black screen = player killed.' I always assumed that the pink 'player wounded' veil represented pain and not blood ... I could be totally wrong on that though.

Besides the limited planes you can see the effects of setting Highgore=1, it also enables the more graphic messages in the netmessages.properties file.

Or at least it is supposed to, but if you open that file, located in your i18n folder of the main folder, it has lines you've probably never seen come up in the chat. Even with Highgore enabled.

You'll also notice a few grammatical errors in there:

- gore_captured {0} has beed captured by the opposing force.

- gore_tank2 {0} has been blown (away) with a tank''s main gun.

And a couple that always make me chuckle when I see them:

- gore_gun2 {0} catches an artillery round up his tail.

- gore_rocketed1 {1} tastes {0}''s rocket!

A couple I've never seen come up:

- gore_blowtail2 {0} saws {1} in half.
- gore_blowtail3 {1}''s rear end is no more.
