View Full Version : A Post Count Celebration Thread

Many times, while browsing forum threads about every possible topic (and about other topics too), I have noticed the occasional appearance of some post ending with a "P.S: WooHoo just made n posts !", generously sprinkled with smilies, numbers and multiple exclamation signs, the numbers being generally round, or large, or both.

So I thought that those events could be more properly celebrated in a thread dedicated to them, rather than the usual 'quickie', a speedy P.S., hastily appended to a post on an otherwise unrelated thread http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Of course, that thought occured to me because I noticed that I've just got a relevant quantity to celebrate! (note how I'm refraining from using !!!!!). Having failed to find (search worked, though) thread topics about these celebrations...

I am hereby reaching the hefty amount of 10000000 posts! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Or 80h, also known as 128 in earlier, decimal cultures http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
It means that I'm at only one bit's distance of reaching a full byte. Granted, it's the most significant bit that's missing, but it's still only one bit.

In our digital reality, that's a 'digitally round' quantity, important enough to raise many digital beers to it.
And it looks big, anyhow http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Are you in the process of reaching a significant post count figure? Let us know, and let's celebrate http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
Of course, significant may take many meanings... be it round numbers such as hundreds or thousands, or the Equator's length in nautical miles, or the exact amount of planes in FB-AEP-PF... you name it. Just explain why the figure has significance to you http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Maybe, if the number of posts on this thread ever overflows one byte, it will become a historical record for future generations... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheers,
S.

The significance of 2364?

How could you guyz have missed it? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Put the first digit in place of the second and the second in place of the first. Then multiply those two digits by two and you'll find the first the same as the third and the second is the same as the forth. Uncanny isn't it? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I'm a little disappointed that that post has come and gone and no one wished me a happy 2364th post day. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I will always miss and remember that post. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Just keep in mind that as your post count increases it does so on all your posts....

I'm not far off 10,000,000,000,000 for this account, but that's not counting about 100,000,000,000,000 from previous accounts....

...in decimal, nearly 20,000 posts.

Actually, this was the underlying idea I was hinting at in my initial post, besides the humour and partying http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

When I first thought that I might celebrate the digital roundness of 128, I realised that my post-count-party post would come up quite off-topic in other, unrelated threads... so having a dedicated thread for those celebrations might help relieving other threads from (a bit of) OT-ness.

I'm right now spoiling the roundness I had achieved, but still... keep'em comin', it may be fun http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (On the other hand, I'm now hitting 10000001 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif)
In the wise words of Low-Flyer,

Hey, that's a good one, I'd guess JG52Uther wasn't aware of being so close to that 'significant' number http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

At the time of this post my count was 3945, my wife's age and mine.

And no I'm not talking about millennia here - 39 and 45.

I'm the old git in this partnership http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
