Ok I am here reporting from Mickey Mouse world (isn't broadband from a hotel room great?).

As some of you know I got my PF from UBI soft today right before I left on vacation.

My first impressions:

I'm blown away by the small details that have been added to the off line campaigns. The voices in the breifing room, the new music. It's done very well. Another exmaple, you start a Peral harbor campaign in a P-40 flying for the US and your greeted by a blaring "scramble" horn. It's just cool the way it is done.

I am also happy to report that there are plenty interesting campaigns, more than I'll need for years of exploration (although no Flying Tiger campaign or P-38).

The install over my exsisting FB+AEP went very smooth.

The game simply rocks and it is everything we hoped it would be.

If the Hellcat doesn't mow everything down in sight, I'm not interested.

I mean everything.

One thing I forgot to add is the real cool new interface for your pilot in the roster screen. You even have combat reports now that the game keeps track of. This game is ridicoulously cool.

So far I have 3 kills, 1 kate over pearl (forced to bail out in the encounter, shot down by the escorts, Zeroes).

2 Zeroes over Midway.

How could you shoot down Zeros at Midway in a P-40? Does PF have P-40s with 500 gallon drop tanks? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There were no P-40s at Midway. None. It isn't a what-if, either, the only way to get P-40s to Midway would have been to take them there on a CV and fly them off for Midway, they lacked the range to get there from Hawaii.

tater you are right about that but the game assigned my squadron there after pearl. I guess if someone does not like it they can switch to a more historical scenario. I am having fun though....

You can deploy just about any aircraft by sea. Just take the wings off, bag em up, and crane them onto a freighter. The tough part is getting them into a dockside workshop at each end with the facilites to get the wings on and off.

Or -there's nothing to stop you crating the parts to the theater, then building them right there. Thats what the AVG did, because P40s didnt have the range to fly from 'Frisco to China either (lol)

You`ll also notice something else... the offline Campaign is actually a little more invovled eg

I`m flying the f4f Campaign - isn`t it funny that you have to paddle the pedals in, just like the I16, nearly crashed after taking off when that first happened - you don`t see that in the movies!

Anyway, I was doing a few rescue missions, not much happening, then we were assigned am INTERCEPT mission. Well, we flew around and found nothing so we went back to base.

Next mision we were told that the Japanese recon plane we missed had now alerted a major attack on our carriers. We scrambled to intercept and managed to send the enemy packing with only superficial damage to our carrier.

The next mission in the briefing, it called ME by my actual name and said we must find the carrier that attacked us in the last mission! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

(Obviously it must have picked my name from the start up roster, but very cool touch!)

What does Mike Dukakis have to do with Hellcats?

(I feel I've heard a good joke and I'm the only one who don't get it.

Now if you had him riding the tank from '88 I'd understand....(I think)
