View Full Version : What planes are missing on the Eastern Front?

The missing planes of the Eastern Front.

I€ve been thinking about which important planes (i.e. that were built in large numbers) are we still missing in the Eastern Front. Now that most of the focus is on the Pacific front, here is my list. With these planes I could consider the Eastern Front done.

Arado Ar96. Okey, it was a trainer. But it could carry small bombs, and some had machine guns and were used as light tactical strike aircraft. Production: more than 11000!!

Dornier Do17Z. Two engine bomber. Used by Germany during the invasion of the Soviet Union and in other theaters. Production: 1200

Heinkel He 177. Heavy bomber. Used extensively on the Eastern Front. Production: 900.

Me410. Two engine heavy fighter-bomber. Used all around as a night fighter and during the late war as a fighter-bomber replacing the BF110. Production: 1100.

For the Soviet Union, we€re set! I can€t think of any major plane missing. The A-20 provided with PF completed the list on the soviet side

Although I would like to have every single plane flyable, I€ll be happy to have them as AI planes. I think we need a two engine flyable soviet bomber (the Pe-2) but I think the cockpit is on the making.

Your thoughts?

HS-123 for Germany:

"With the outbreak of World War II the Hs 123 was used in all theatres, Poland, France, the Balkan and finally Russia and the aircraft was used up to its limits. It was a big surprise that this aircraft was such a tremendous success in tactical and aircraft sturdiness aspects, being also used in the ground-attack configuration. It was nearly the only aircraft that always had operational readiness during the Russian winter of 1941/1942. The Hs 123 soldiered on until mid-1944."

Here's one we aren't gonna get AFAIK: Bf109G4. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif
For Soviet side...hm. I15(bis)s (and subvariants of Rata and Sea-Gull) and such..(maybe early ver. MiGs, MiG-1).

Ju-88 variants!!!!

Medium bomber, strike bomber, night fighter, ect ect.

Filled as many roles as the mossie did for the British.

Oh and while there at it, a Ju-188,288 and 388 would be rather nice.

How come nobody ever mentions the Henschel Hs 126? There were plenty of them in the early days. They might not have been any good but they have more right to be in the sim than many others.

Some of them are already made.. and waiting to be introduced in game. I believe Ju88 and Italian fighters (about SM79 unsure?). Also Tempest..

I believe we will had them in the future patches..(great info on Italian fighters at Oleg Maddox Ready Room Reggiane 2001: Oleg look here please (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=63110913&m=2251064932))

hs129 ommission has always mystefied me, not really cos of numbers as they were limited but it seems the equivilent of the il2 as a ground killer, quite simply it should be made flyable

I'd love a flyable Hs-129. We have the IL-2 tank buster but not any Axis ones. (of course there's the Gustav Stuka but there was the henschel before that)

just my nickels worth

The Pe-2, the Po2, the Pe-2, and... oh yes, the Pe-2.

11-16-2004, 06:02 PM
My list of must-have flyables is pretty long (but will get much shorter with the arrival of the Pe-2 and the Ju-88) but the Hs-123 is extremely notable in its absence, flyable and AI.

well the VVS did have one solitary mosquito under lend lease that would be nice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I really would like to have the essential I-16
variants (types 5/6/10) plus I-15bis & R-5.

Finland: Fokker C.X. divebomber/reconnaissance is the most important plane missing from FAF,
since we should be getting Fokker D.XXI...

Germany/Finland: Dornier Do-17Z
