So I load up the GW mod last night. I???ve been putting it off because I had to finish the latest Sock Patrol before I could make the transition. I decide to give it a go so I load up 1rst Flotilla Kiel 1939 with a Type IIA U-boat.

Simply amazing! I head out of Kiel and watch a couple of FW-190???s circle overhead. The harbor is full of shipping and on my way out I spot another U-boat coming in. I???m plotting my course, I???ve been assigned the ungodly AO of BF-13 of all places, and I notice the Kiel Canal. What the heck I decide to take it. The Mod makes Silent Hunter a whole new game. I felt like a noob again. I found myself getting trapped on sandbars and having to back off of them, and change course to get around them.

I finally reach the eastern opening of the English Channel and start across. It isn???t long before I attract the attention of a lone Elco Torpedo boat. I???m thinking to myself no problem on the noob patrols Socko eats these things for breakfast with the flak gun. So I jump on and start blazing away. It isn???t until I see the sparks from the elco rounds bouncing off the conning tower that I realize the flak gun is not going to do it. It is then that I see the three flower corvettes and the DD going flank speed at me and I decide to dive. I go down to 20 meters and start my egress from the area. The Tommies don???t seem to be able to find me and I start to creep away.

I decide to make a head call and grab something to eat. I come back about fifteen minutes later and discover that the ships have dropped well astern of my boat. I???m thinking that they must be amateurs and switch to the external view to get a better look at the boat model. Oh what are all those things floating around the boat? I guess the ???amateurs??? just did not want to sail into the MINEFIELD that I had blundered into. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif I was about 3/4???s of the way through the field. I did not alter course and made it out but there was more than one time when I thought it was all over.

Once out of the minefield I promptly bottomed out on the bottom of the channel. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif I didn???t alter my depth from 20 meters I just forgot how shallow the channel got. Reminded me of the first Noob Patrol when Smitlack tried to do a crash dive in shallow water.

So I had to switch over from silent running to repair all the damage and tried to ease my way off the bottom. It took me about thirty minutes and I had to blow the ballast tanks two times (that sounds so obscene), to get the ship up off the floor. After which I was sitting exposed on the surface while I finished repairs to the outside of the boat. Once that was done I was able to assign enough crew to the engine compartment to get back underway.

It is going to take me a little while to get my bearings with the mod but I think it should improve the kind of mischief Socko and Smitlack can get into in U-1 and U-123. I think I will be able to space out th

Why i have painted my plane red ? It would be unfair if they couldnt recognize that it is me who they are up against.

It will be a whole different world now for Socko. You will notice the seagulls carry bombs now. Exacting a little revenge I guess!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The last thing I heard as the British boarded my boat, "Boot hoch halten sonst wird keiner gerettet!"....Keep the boat afloat or no one will be rescued! My war was over....
