I gonna buy a 6800GT, I just can't resist any more....but do you guys think my 2.53G CPU would work well with it? I don't wanna burn US$200 for just 500MHz more!!! (my MB is 533FSB, so, 3G is the most I can have)

I too have a similar problem m8.
I think it might be a bad idea to spend all that cash on a card when so much is changing at the moment, id wait a while,
if you really need a new card id go for one of the great value nvidia 5900s or a 9800 pro, theyre dirt cheap at the mo (by comparison). If you buy a good card now you may end up replacing it again with a pci-express one if you upgrade to a new motherboard.

I think it is a bad idea to buy a PCI-Express system right after its release.... It is bounded to be buggy, just like any other computer stuffs. So I am thinking about doing a full upgrade now, instead of just a 6800GT... so that I can have a decent system for one more year, then I can go out again for a "debugged" PCI-Express system.

But if someone can tell me my 2.53G system can work well with 6800GT in IL2FB, I think it is still my first choice

It will work, but will be a bit limited by the CPU, which might not be a big deal if you intend to upgrade it in the coming months. In my case I am thinking of getting a 2.8 CPU (up from 2.2) and the regular 6800 (the 128 meg). That way I can extend my system's life without investing too much in it. If I intended on a new PC purchase in the next couple months or year I might go with the higher end card, as it would be a reasonable card to move to the new system. Otherwise it is probably a better bet to get the 6800, AND a CPU upgrade. Flight Sims really are demanding of the CPU, so you may find that the card itself doesnt make as profound a difference as you might expect. The GT usually lists for ~100.00-150.00 more than the regular 6800, so that is 1/2 the price of 3.06 Ghz HT CPU, and I think it is pretty likely that you will get a greater performance yield with that combo than the 6800 GT and your current CPU.

Go to www.newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com) and take a look, they have an evga 6800 for 283.00 and most of the P4 CPUS.

Here is an article to give you a better answer that will help you make up your own mind about it.

So the P4 3.06GHz HT and eVGA6800 would cost $ 516.00.

The 6800GT would be about 450.00
