Since no servicemen in any navy in the world wears decorations on duty, I think the answer to your question is negative! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I think perhaps the answer is yes, the decorations will be displayed on the uniforms. I think I even asked this question to the Dev's.

69. (HeibgesU999): If the crew receives medals, will they appear on the models?
(Devteam): Yes. Medals, decorations and ranks will appear on the 3D models.

This is something I mentioned months ago. Nobody seemed too worried/concerned then. Why should you or anyone now?

Maybe we are not the same "nobodys" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

As long as we are nitpicking, did anyone else notice that the planesman's hands are STILL on the auxillary controlls? I wouldn't really care except for the fact that this problem was addressed when the FIRST SCREENSHOT was released ages ago. The dev's said they would fix it, but I guess not. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Also, not to scare anybody, but I only saw one periscope tab, not two....Is perhaps the nav scope an option to switch when in the periscope station? I guess this would be like the AA guns, 1 tab for multiple guns, but as of yet, NO SIGN OF A SECOND SCOPE http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

ah I pussed out on this post a couple of hours ago....thinking I would get the (the devs said there will be two scopes)....but about 20 seconds into the vid they demonstrate the pop out menu on the port side (left) of the screen.....only saw one scope button.....but another reason I didnt post was there is no way to tell if two scopes are actually modeled from what we have been given....no for sure (thats for sure)

I also have a question about the conning tower, one of the videos shows the captain pausing in the conning tower on his way up to the bridge.....was this taken out or have we just not seen it since then?......cause if we saw the conning tower view, we would see the attack scope sitting there.....who knows....

I think the medals should only show up on the UI screen when assigning crew members things to do. Also the UI screen when you are handing out these promotions.

Definatley not in the 3d world.

I was and am worried about medals in combat/work dress, even if I won't loose my sleeping by that.
As I know, the normal way to show decorations on dayly uniform is by ribbons on the jacket: same meaning of medals, but more practical.

Not exactly true for german soldiers in WW2. They actually wore their decorations as part of their every-day standard uniform. Of course for a U-boat crew things were a bit different since the 'dress code' was quite a bit more relaxed than in your usual Wehrmacht unit. Just take a look at the famous Oesten photo. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I doubt anyone wore decorations while on patrol.

But then the Kriegsmarine crews didn't usually consist of bodybuilders, too... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Scourtney2 don`t know it might still be in. Check out the very last pic (15 of 15 Link: http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/664/664549/img_2619292.html ) on the new gamespy review. Its a scope pic but more importantly in the bottom left just above the crew pictures are several other icons including the first which looks like a scope and the second that looks like a targeting reticle could be that the first is the observation scope shortcut and the second is the attack scope shortcut. Of course wont know until the game is released http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The second one is definitivly the scope.
But I would say the first is to raise the diesel-snorkel...
... or to crash-submerge in a 90 degree angle (doesn't it look like a vertical standing sub?). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Lol true true could be http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Then again though each of those buttons seem to have the possibility of displaying further options as well, check out the navigation tutorial video when they do the blow ballast demo, the player clicks on the emergency order button in the bottom left and then another two buttons show up in the bottom middle of the screen one for crash dive the other for blow ballast so its possible the same could happen with the scope button http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (anyway that what I`m telling myself to keep my optimism up!!!)

I think there will be a safer option, at least I hope for it.
Let`s say it comes in a form of a "C" button on the keyboard.
It was in both previous versions of SH.

Thanks Lobolopez: That "D" didn`t look right to me. It was "C" button.

I wouldnt worry too much, looking at the couple of keyboard shortcuts in the nav tutorial vid there is bound to be one for a crash dive as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I would guess that the first icon is for the periscope and the second icon is for the control room/panel.
