Hi all,

Like many of you I like to build models. I have a 1:24th scale 109G2. It's not a bad model but I like details. The firewall was inaccurately modelled. I need some pics or drawings of the details. I have a few and have the basic structure built but I need to see the wiring and hoses.

Thanx, in advance. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thx for the link. Found a few good details but still need a few more. This is more than what I had. I hadn't visited that site in about two years. It's nice to see it has improved a lot.

Thx again. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Be sure to post the photos here when you're finished. I recently decided to begin building a collection of my favorite aircraft in 1/32 scale or larger. My first is the FW 190 D-9. I have the cockpit partially completed and have fitted the Eagle Parts corrected gun cowling, radiator cowling and tail wheel yoke. I used Eduard seat belts for the cockpit. I also ordered the amazing Moskit metal exhaust pipes from Avia Press in Moscow. The US dealers can never seem to find these. The aircraft will be in the colors of Yellow 15. I assume you are building the Trumpeter kit? I also have this one and would be interested to see how the build goes.

Hey JS, that looks good. Nice work. Did you put a motor behind the prop? I see a few wires there.

You are right, we have the same 109 kit. It's not bad if you like adding detail; there's lots of work. I must admit, the instrument panel on the Trumpeter kit is very nice.

I have been on and off this model for a least a year. I had finished the firwall once but later noticed I had modelled a Emil firewall; embarrassing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif.

Some other modifications include detailing the wheelwells. That worked out nicely. I also made the landing gear retractible with a leaf spring that holds the gear all the way open or all the way closed. The hardest part was getting the wheel covers thin enough to be flush with the wings.

Something that really worked out well was motorizing the props. I used the fan moter from an old v-card. It's well hidden and completely silent. The best part, is when you disconnect the power. You would expect the blades to slowly come to a stop, but instead, when they do come to a stop they reverse revolution for about 5 degrees. That was an excellent easter egg.

BTW, what did you do with the extra fuselage? I came up with, what I think, is a good idea. I am modelling a scrapped 109. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The wires are for the antenna. I use Oral-B dental floss to make my antenna wires. I unstrand it to the proper thickness and it stays strong and is easy to glue. I never thought about putting an electric motor in.
I'll have to look into that. Haven't started on my Trumpeter 109 kit yet but it looks like a good one with lots of detail. I hope to have my 190 completed in about a month if I can get some solid modelling time in. I've been really busy lately. You should get the Eduard seat belts for you're 109 I have them in my 190 and
also for the Trumpeter 109. I highly recommend these seat belts. Making a scrapped 109 out of the extra fuselage sounds like a good idea. I was wondering what to do with it myself. I'm still collecting kits for my collection and so far I have 1/28 Revell Spad XIII, 1/28 Revell
Fokker D VII, 1/32 Trumpeter 109 G-2, 1/32 Trumpeter Vought F4U-4 and a Fonderie Miniatures 1/48 Halifax Mk III multimedia vac kit. I'll be busy for quite a while! I'm having a cabinet made to hold them. I figure I can squeeze about seventeen of them in. I'm still deciding on the other aircraft to model.

I've actually got all the zimmerit panels filled in now I just haven't had time to update the photos. IL-2 is a major time hog!
