UQMG Change Announcement

Dear UQMG users, first of all, I'd like to thank you for the support you have given me these years. With that in mind you are probably wondering why the AEP upgrade has not come out yet. First of all I need to let you know that working on this upgrade has been "painful", by that I mean the amount of work it has gone into it. It has only been recently that I finally perfected the V-1 generation engine... but that also meant tons of manual work because I had to go to each map and create spawn points... you can't simply program that stuff without knowing where the V-1 will come out because the V-1 HAS TO be at least 30Km from the target and because certain locations will not be suitable for V-1 launch. Also I just figured out why the V-1 cloning was coming out with so many bugs.

With that in mind I also need to mention that the majority of work left has to do with the Rule set engine. Sometimes developers have to make hard decisions in features to cut. The work to make the Rule Sets absolutely compatible with this and any versions to come is so incredibly dull and labor intensive that has discouraged me from more meaningful work in UQMG, like perfecting features and adding more cool features.

So here is what I have decided to do, and I hope it meets your approval:
- From now on, the only Rule sets UPDATED in UQMG will be the generic year sets.

Why?
* First, it will take me approximately another 3 months to get the upgrade out if I go through each set, review it for accuracy and put all the new planes and modifications. Remember I program UQMG as hobby, I still have to accomplish my real-world profession, plus spend time away from the computer with my wife and doing many of my other hobbies.

* There is a new feature that disables AI planes from Rule Sets in Dogfight Arenas, making Rule Sets with flyable only planes sort of redundant. This is a simple click in the main user interface - click and bam... no worries.

* There is an EXTREMELY EXCITING new feature, which is the ability to create YOUR own custom Rule Sets from UQMG. You go through a wizard and create your set... It even allows you to remove certain planes you don't want. You give a name you want, the description you want, and that is it. That will probably suit your needs better anyway. You can delete those custom sets you no longer want... and yes, I thought of future upgrades as well, meaning that upgrades WILL NOT overwrite your sets... although you may want to re-create some if a new plane is added by an upgrade.

I hope this does not make the majority of my users upset. It is not that I do not want the best possible quality product... it is just that the labor intensive stuff should be better used in other things, such as updating the database, putting new IL-2 features in, adding new planes, and even creating decent sample missions.

With that in mind, I hope you are in agreement with me, and you should be seeing an AEP upgrade for UQMG very soon. And meaning that when the AEP addon patch comes up, there should be a much shorter wait.

Best Regards,

Great update and thanks for all the effort.

I wish we could get detailed, informative updates like this regarding the "pending" patch. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Not long to go; I can't wait http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

The fact that UQMG was devised in the first place is enough for me. I'm sure everybody fully understands any comprimises that have to be made to get the "best 3rd-party program" as voted for on this forum.

UberDemon, you are a god amongst us IL2 simmers.

Do not fear what we think of your awesome UQMG. I, for one, think it is an awesome program and truly appreciate all that you have done so far. UQMG does not have to be perfect and flawless (heaven knows that no matter what you do, there is some twit out there who will complain anyway), most of us are just glad it exists for our enjoyment, and that you are spending so much of your time to make all our games that much more challenging and fun.

Keep up the good work!

Had me going when I opened this thread...thought it was a Release Announcement.

If the new version made no changes other than adding the new airplanes, I for one, would be completely satisfied.

In case you haven't heard it before, this is one of what I'd consider "Essential" downloads for this game.

Thanks for the work, and the great product.

Uberdemon,

What you have acomplished boggles my little pea-brain.

Your software has added to my enjoyment of the game as nothing else.

My sincere thanks to you, for all you have done, as well as taking the time to update us.

Uberdemon, thank you for enriching what is already the BEST flight sim on the market.
And now you've gonew and made it BETTER!?!
Well done sir, above and beyond the call of duty. Might have to find a way for the community to award you a virtual DFC for all your hard work.

Thank you very much for hard work.
I am anticipating your UQMB as much or more than "the patch" - I know that sounds strange. But true.

I cant imagine anyone complaining about your work - they would be fools.

The community users of UQMB are in your debt...

Always great to hear from you Uberdemon. I'm sure I speak for most everyone in the community when I say we understand this has been both a hobby and a labor of love for you. IMHO your program is the best 3rd party add-on for any game I have ever played. I look forward to this latest version.

Say Uber D I was thinking last night.. since you have been tearing into this whole FB mission builder for some time I figured you would be the person to ask. Is there any way we could implement triggers into the FMB using the UQMG... or how hard would it be to set something like tha? Woulsd it be harder than making the templates for the UQMG. Im just curious. Since you have put this great piece of software together you obviously know your way around some code... also...... is there any way that we can put skins on stationary objects...? I know it cant be done now but just how far fetched is the notion? Should I not even dream?

Thank you Uberdemon!!!

Anything you do is much appreciated. IMO no one has the right to complain since you provide what you do because of your own generousity. It's your software so you do it anyway you like and that's most preferable to you. I would find it strange that anyone would dare to complain.

You are to be saluted and thanked for your monumental effort!!

I await your update with patience.

I truly appreciate your comments. I am shooting for a release this weekend. I will be working nights this week but I should have enough time to get everything setup.

I believe I am done with all the new features and the engine updates. I am now creating some sample missions, both exploring the new features and new maps. (Created some missions that explore the new capability to use ground objectives in the Channel map, a 17 Mistel Turkey shoot mission, a 12 SPB Zveno Turkey shoot mission, and a Spit V-1 chase mission with 5 waves of 6 V-1's that attack a nearby city.) There will be more though.

The only thing I was not able to do was to include the Crimea map for single player and coop... however, as I promised, you will be getting the Kuban, Kursk and Prokhorovka maps for single-player and coop.

I will release the Crimean, and 2 remaining Normandy maps hopefully in the next patch. I will also look into including the ability to change skins and assign AI by plane.

Will UQMG still 'hook-up' with QMT?

If it will then do you even need to explore this avenue?

Maybe a possibility of including UQMG into Hyperlobby as a plugging or vis versa? that would be nice also, this would be an Ultimate tool

hard to organize? possible to enter in contact between you two.
