Malta plane crash
Associated Press
Valletta, Malta -- Two small private planes crashed into the sea during a competition between acrobatic pilots in the sky above the Malta, killing one pilot on Sunday.

One of the planes started losing altitude and slammed into the other, officials said.

Both then fell into the sea, near the entrance of Marsamxett Harbour in Valletta, where the Aero Grand Prix Event was being held.

Gabor Varga of Sweden, a top-level acrobatic pilot, was rushed to hospital, but died soon afterwards, hospital officials said.

The other pilot involved, 37-year-old Eddy Goggins from Ireland, ejected and was reported as being safe.

The harbour was closed while rescue teams collected debris from the crash.

The guy who died was Gabor Vargas, one of Swedens most famous stunt pilots. Irrc he had expressed concern about the irish pilots carelessness before the race, but don't quote me on that.
Very sad, I saw him on an airshow a few years back. Great pilot!

Oh by the way, one of our Gripen planes went down today, fortunately no casualties.

I noticed the guy kept flying high and behind the leader. That was asking for a crash!
