Yes, you just have to submit your model to 1C:Maddox Games and they'll include it if it meets the game's standards.

i didnt know you could do that is it a new thing

It's not new but already started when Il-2 Sturmovik (not FB!!) was released years ago. It just takes a long time and careful research and work to produce a plane that is up to the standards of Maddox Games. The tools are expensive (3D Studio Max) and the level of detail is very high - and all coding work still is within Maddox Games's hands.

Check out the IL2 / FB Design and Development forum at Netwings here: http://www.netwings.org/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID43&conf=DCConfID1

All the coolest modellers hang out there, and you should get a rough idea of what's involved: detailed research, hard work, then more research, followed by more hard work. The third-party modellers around here really do fantastic work and are by far one of our greatest assets in the community. Salute, lads.

I absolutley, positively LoVE both the F8F Bearcat, and the J7 Shinden...

But modelers, PLEASE refrain from making these beautiful birds for PF plzplzplz

While the Bearcat is a known quantity, and Shinden is NOT, and I don't know how I could take another "speclative" fantasy FM/DM in this game, ala 109Z

I hope 1C/Maddox/Ubi/Oleg/Whoever uses some good judgement for this game, and allows only those proven COMABT types with apprieciable numbers in production and deployment by Aug '45 to be included in PF at relase, or at any time in future patches

Not very thrilling to fly a type with an accurate FM/DM with all its strengths and weaknesses known, for what theyre worth, against a type with an FM/DM that had to be guessed at, both strengths and weaknesses

The argument that Ive heard in the past about the 109Z, for example, was that its RL performance was that its FM could be accurately modeled by comp simulation...BS! no matter what, IRL there are always varibles that can produce a signifigant diference in flight behavior in a type...example, the Corsair...after countless man-hours making calculations, testing models and flying actual machnes, no-one guessed its nasty flick stall to the left...only took a tiny, six inch strip of metal along the port wing leading edge to counter this...a lil thing that made a huge difference to the flight characteristic...one that saved lives...

If the Corsair was an abandoned type, for some reason or another, and was later modeled for FB/PF, would it have the flick stall? you can bet it wouldnt...cuz they didnt forsee it then, and in most likelyhood, it wouldnt have been forseen today in a flight model...so we would have BS FM for it, in the game

I actually do like "what-ifs", but not when they are released amongst "real" types...it (IMO) kinda slaps the real things in the face, and the whole premise of FB/PF striving to a "realstic" sim/game and having high standards for detail

I could stomach the fantasy types much, much better, if they would or could be packaged as just that...a "fantasy" type add on cd....wait until there is a substanial number of these, then release an addon cd....SOWWII, if you will, along those lines

There's lots of realistic ones to cover before we nail the what-ifs.

Especially the Japanese...although I hear there is Ki-44 under development and some other good encouraging news as well.
