I have heard that 9800pro reall comes into its own with dx9 games(of which are coming out now) and the fx5900 is better at dx8. Is this true? I want to know that my newly bought 9800pro will last more than 6 months.

A truly wise man will always be humbled.

yes, DX9 is fully supported on the 9800 series cards...you'll love it even more as more of these beauties begin to hit the shelves.

I'm really looking forward to STALKER: Shadows of Chernyobyl and HL2.

according to the box that came with my 5900XT, it's the card recommended by Id for Doom3. Doom3 was fully coded in Dx9b+ btw. All I can say is that I"m getting about 20 fps better with the 5900XT than I got with my now fried ATI 9700 Pro. I was really happy with the 9700 but it died after 18+ months of glorious gaming.
