I recently bought Forgotten Battles and noticed that under input settings there are editable settings for rudder, aileron and elevator control.

Does anyone have any system for fine tuning this, I've noticed that it seems to effect response time, but I'm not sure how to make it work for me.

Thanks in advance.

I think the default settings work ok. Why don't you experiment? If you screw them up, just hit the default button, and try again. It's really a personal thing, and depends alot on the stick your using.

Thanks, some guy on UBI online told me there was a formula to setup custom settings.

Maybe that was some bad info.

Some guys like a real soft feel around center, and will start with a 1 for the first number, and taper it up slowly. Others like a real resposive feel, and will start with a number like 40 with a fast taper up to 100. You just have to try different settings to see what you like.

Welcome Veracious_Poet!

I read somewhere that due to the modern sticks being more sensitive than "older" ones, Oleg & Co recommended players to set their sticks according to this:

Pitch: 0 5 10 17 25 33 43 54 71 100

Roll: 0 3 7 15 25 35 50 66 84 100

Yaw: 0 8 19 29 39 51 62 75 86 100

This setting (supposedly) feels more like the real thing than the default one. I've tried it, and...well...it's different. It makes the plane react slower at first, then more rapidly. So it's easier to aim while making small stick movements, but when in a hurry you have to move the stick more to get a quick response.

I'm still using the Oleg setting, but I might switch back to the deafault (probably won't hit a thing then...) just to see what that was like.

Try it, then fiddle around until it feels right for you. Have fun! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I never recommend those settings for many reasons. They came in the readme on one of the IL2 patches.

Buzz - can you elaborate why? My accuracy improved when I set my stick up like this (a bit different, but same idea). And also should you set something for the Deadzone or Filtering?

They came out for IL2. I never tried them in FB. The main thing I didn't like was the sudden jump from 71 to 100 on the pitch. This could make a noob stall the plane. I also thought they were way to soft at center. It took to much movement of the stick to get a reaction from the plane. I guess some guys like that though. It would depend alot on what plane you were flying too. I've always used different settings for different planes.
