***z !! There is no satisfactory difference between enemy AI exp levels! Rookie pilot flying as an Ace shootin from 300 m in the head ?
I am not a pilot real life ...not even tried
But ,there should be some difference !!!
I am able to down Hartman with P400 and unable to get some shmuggy Zero with Wildcat? no Rookie errors, no low performance AI actions? What is this? an online slaughterhause ? should be a combat simulator NOR a shooting range!
Oh man ... ORIGINAL IL sturmovik hopefully works fine...I am into it...Cheers folks...

Problem is that ai for example on average skill level isn't the same "average" good on all aircraft.

For instance ai on Zero is perhaps the best ai in game, so you must choose some other ai to test.

About difference in skill, there are differences, but ai has significantly improved and is the best ai so far in FB series (toughest one). Also ai does not crash on ground for no apparent reason like it used to.
Of course IMHO.

Well, not entirely. I've still had wingmen crash into hills because they didn't realize they couldn't fly THROUGH the big rock in front of them. But, it's definitely not as prevalent as it used to be. Not one of those FW-190D9's on that mission I was talking about in The Mighty Mustang crashed.

I have just been amazed with the fact that I have circled around hill on QMB Crimea map for about 10mins with 16 ace ai Bf-109G6AS/G10s on my Spit Mk.9eCW tail and not a single one crashed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Of course that accidental crashes are still possible but as you say it isn't as it used to be before.

What do you mean by "satisfactory"? I have noted differences in different experience levels and how they fly against me.

they are lots better at dodging hills etc in combat, but i still had 2 p400 wingmen just fall out of the sky while i landed AFTER i ordered them to "loiter (or orbit) here".

they do seem to respong better to most commands though.

The AI is better than it used to be. This is the best AI in the sim so far and there is indeed a difference. In a QM I suggest you mix up the flights. Also before you talk about the AI.... what are your settings? Are you using icons? Open pit? Padlock? All this is important. One of the great things about this sim is.. if it gets easy you can always tweak it up a notch. I think that Veteran is more challenging than Ace. However in a full mission it is even better becasue say you have two flights of 4 each. Well in the first flight if you set say Ace,average,veteran rookie and for the second set veteran ,average, average rookie... or mix it up like that.. for some reason.. at least to me.. it seems to bew more challenging. If you really want to make it challenging after you rule the skies.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif then give your self inferior planes.. or skew the odds against you. Dont blame the sim because you arent using it to its full potential.

I am flying full real, and I do not blame that game for my poorness in terms of flying:-) i am just frustrated average or rookie AI do not loose you from sight nor not set for example wrong pitch or smth like that ... I know ...War is war and there is no place for mistake, but wouldn't it make it more immersive to have AI stall or loose opponent from sight? I bet rookie pilots did lots of mistakes beside flying just a little bit below aircraft limits...Cheers:-)

Perhaps it`s down to your flying experience, because quite often AI make mistakes. I had a recent battle where I actually ran outta ammo so I just flew directly behind the 109 at low level as if I could shoot it. It kept twisting and turning until I drove it into the ground.

Also, AI often gives a warning shot at you when it first opens fire, giving you the chance to immediately evade. Sometimes they`ll overmanouever and hit the earth.

I have also come across AI that hasn`t seen me. Flying along until I take its tail off.

AI also does stall sometimes. Not often, but it happens.

Remember that AI and his wingman TALK to eachother. So it`s possible that they always know where you are because his WINGMAN keeps him informed. Here`s proof: simply switch your radio to the `enemy` frequency and you`ll hear them talking to eachother about you.

IL2 is an intense sim and the AI is especially good in campaigns when they can come at you as a cooperative group.

I really noticed this in my Hayabusa campaign with out of the box PF. Three P-400s were flying straight in formation near their base on low/medium alt. I doubt that I would even notice them, but since I escorted some Rikkos with and saw navy Zeros nearby I thought they were second flight of Zeros until I saw dark camo and different shape. At theat time I was really close from their right/stern side, little below them. I disengaged immediately and rejoin my flight, and never saw these guys again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

tbh it isn't that common sight in the game that ai do not see me, but it happens.
