I have been spending a lot of time this winter trying to practice good "energy" flying, and I have been flying a lot of "late" war fighters (those of us who see a connection between these two things know what I have been experiencing)...these fighters are heavy, powerful (fast), and loaded with guns...its best to fly the late war fighters with a careful technique and to attack/fight with forethought. Knowledge and experience are key and knowing things like the best turn speed, and how many degrees per second can only help you fight/fly "smarter"...and it will help you live longer...But my 'first" love has always been the early warbirds....Last night I decided to have some fun so I loaded up a map (a new one?) with I-16, Gladiators, Hurricanes, and P-40's on one side and Zero's, KI-43, KI-27 and A5M's on the other (I jumped from Zero's to P-40's and back again, flying both sides)...I set up the "targets" so that every "flight" of fighters was attacking a different "flight" then the one that was attacking (targeting) them...

I jumped right into the middle of the fray and had a ball...All-though I did find that I was applying many of the "energy" techniques I have been practicing (and they helped) I had the most fun when I was (mindlessly) jerking the stick around "bleeding energy", following an enemy fighter through a 360deg turn, latching onto the closest enemy fighter (changing targets mid-pursuit), ignoring cry's for help (can the AI dream of electric sheep?) and shooting "friendly" fighters (no icons, full switch)...I feel a little ashamed and humiliated...but it felt sooooo good (what a good release of tension that was!). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

One tip...setting up a battle so that every "flight" is targeting a different "flight" then the one that is attacking them is much more interesting then setting up duels of one "flight" against another. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Great idea zardozid!!! Might be an inspiration for me as well. Yea I love the little turn fighters like the I-16 or the Ki-27 for that reason "round and round." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
