Just had my gunsite destroyed while attacking a JU88. Had never seen that before... I was flying a P47,. Can that happen in every plane? I know the P47 has alot of skins, more than other planes, maybe this is a MOD too?

As far as I know it happens with all aircraft. Though I've never seen it with telescopic sighted aircraft (so perhaps not them)...In kind some have back-up iron sights that were more intended for the loss of a bulb, yet will flip up when the reflector sight is shot out.

It's used when you are facing into the sun so you can see the reticle.

O.K. so your sight was shot away.
Did you continue the fight?
Was the Ju-88 shot down?
Did you make it back to base?

Wait until your windscreen fills with engine oil! Then try to make it out alive.

Always continue the fight, Even if you're spinning out of control, You never know some dunder-head might just fly right in front of your guns.

Wow, I hope he didn't....btw if your windscreen is covered in oil using that as the time to hot foot it to a safe area and land/ditch, well then you stayed WAY too long in the fight and have long before that been bested.

Only time I'll stay with a busted sight is when friends need help or I can't run.....At normal ranges (100-200m), a sight is mandatory.

Save the ammo in case you get cornered and need it.

Anybody remember the 190 bug? No matter WHERE the plane was hit, you had a 90% chance that your gunsight was destroyed. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The screen oiling,is that when it goes black? I thought that was smoke damage.

Yep thats what it is. it means severe engine damage resulting in oil being splattered over the windscreen.

That seems to happen a lot in the Beaufighter as well.
