How do you have it set up? The one linked on that page seems to have a much smaller focal length.

I have an F550, but my monitor is a 17 inch (15.9 inch viewable) CRT. I could have gotten the next smaller size lens but I???m glad I got the 550 because I have to sit way back away from my monitor and the Fresnel makes the virtual image look like a 21 inch or bigger by positioning the lens further away from the monitor, maybe farther than the designed focal point.
Ultimately, you will have to decide where you are going to position it that will best suit your needs. Moving back away from your monitor is cool, very depth expansive and all, but your face will have to be lined up with the center of the lens all the more. The sides of the screen may appear to bend in or out if your face isn???t just the right distance from the Fresnel. A bystander might only see a blur.
I recommend mounting it to some kind of frame that you or another user can quickly and easily reposition. Make sure the phonographic finish is away from you. Lights can cause annoying reflections just like they can on your monitor screen.
Once you get it all figured out and tweaked in, try flying without it. It will be flat looking and suck by comparison. It???s the cheapest way I know of to get a big screen monitor. Good Luck.

I use lens with a 19 inch CRT.

Very simply you have to get the lens to be used framed in whatever will support it then move it away from the screen till from where you are sitting you see the whole screen as large as possible in the lens.

If I put mine at 15 inches from screen I would only be able to see the middle bit of screen.

Obviously if you have a 17 or 14 inch screen lens will be further away from it than with a 19 inch.

Don't worry about focal length or calculation just set it in front and move it around till you are happy.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have always thought about giving one a try. How is it with other games like FPS titles for example?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

There's a thread here that links to an Operation Flashpoint forum. A lot of people there really liked it. I'm going to try it with F.E.A.R. to get even more freaked out.

Well, after 3 whole days, my fresnel lens arrived from China!

After a while of screwing around I got it setup about 15 inches from my monitor and WOW, it rocks. It took me about 20 minutes for my eyes to get used it but now it looks fine. Truly amazing for $50 shipped.

Now I need a trackIR.
