View Full Version : A bad combination...

Patrol 10:

We were cruising northeast along the west coast of England. The hunting had been good. I'd ambushed a fat outbound convoy. Two large Freighters, a large Cargo and an ore carrier were now rusting hulks on the ocean floor. I spotted a few targets over two days but weather was too bad for deck gun action and our 8000 ton minimum kept me from firing a shot.

It was getting dark and I just about to surface and recharge when Sonar reported warships closing at medium speed, long range. I tracked them for a bit, determined their general course and speed, surfaced and dead reckoned to a intercept. My boys are good, damn good. I submerged just ahead of them. Within minutes they crept into view.

A small task force of one Tribal Class Destroyer and 2 Auxillary Cruisers. The Destroyer was unaware of me so I torped him down with one shot then conentrated on the Cruisers. I had three torps left so I tested one out on the first. One hit forward well below the waterline and she went up like the 4th of July. The second soon followed suit. These Cruisers had obviously been "converted" and were full of ammunition, a bad combination.

More Carnage

Perhaps the admiralty should rethink this concept.

Great work there, and the tonnage should have been very healthy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The best task force I have ever had any result from was a main body of battleships and carriers shortly followed by 4 auxilllary cruisers in line astern. Let's just say I picked each auxillary cruiser off one by one with just 1 torpedo each http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
