i was reading (E3 06: Assassin's Creed First Impressions) at gamespot, and i read this "Incidentally, the name Altair is Arabic for the flying eagle, and indeed, the creative director of the game confirmed that the eagle was the inspiration for the character."
just want to comment that Altair doesnt mean the eagle itself but any flying creature is Altair.. so dont go too much with the eagle thing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif waiting on fire to play the game hopefully my GTS8800 will be enough for it hehe

This has been talked about a number of times. Al-ta'ir refers to something that flies. Eagle is nisr.

You are right actually...
Too bad
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Altair= Used only with Birds and flying creatures (ONLY!)...

Alta'ir= Can be used with Birds AND anything else that flies (whether it's a living creature or not)...

Well you are not completely wrong, so the audience aren't gonna experience any Fablie-Yellin'n'Bashin' >_>
