was looking at a ww2 documentry(piece on the arnham landings) which showed a british horsa glider taking off being towed by what appeared to be(in the distance) a b25 bomber. was the b25 used as a glider tug

I think what you saw was a Whitley Bomber maybe.

Good idea from the AAF perspective, though:

They can tow the gliders while carrying a bomb load. Then, once the grunts are on the ground the B-25's can bomb them more conveniently! Don't have to fly back to England, get bomb load, then fly back to the LZ and try and find them again.

she was not a whitley or a albermarle. her tail was like a b 25 and she had very low set engine nacelles
