Hello everyone,

There are several discussions going on about the relative merits of the 6800 and X800 series cards for PF.

Can somebody with a 6800 comment on the differences in frame rate between excellent and perfect with water set to 1, 2 and 3 (I believe 3 being the setting that calls up the use of PS 3.0)?

Not meant to be an Nvidia vs ATi thread, just interested to know if the PS 3.0 water can be used at playable frame rates and resolutions. It looks great in the screenshots, but Lock On has taught me that cranking the graphics settings up can sometimes have a negative effect on frame rates http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

RocketDog.

sheeesh that looks amazing! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Are they ACTUAL waves, or just a flat surface with textured moving surface textures?

Also, what different settings for water are there?

My frame rates arent good on water=3. Using water=2 fps are great with my 6800 GT 2400 Golden Sample.I can barely play with water=3 using 2xAA and 2xAniso if theres not AA fire, 1280x1024, but I can use 4xAA and 4xAniso in water=2
If I use effects=2 or 3, when there is a lot of AA fire, the game is a slide show using both water=2 or water=3. I must use effects=1 in order to play decently.
I use 65.73 drivers after install a lot of them, including 66.81 WHQL. 61.77 doest work with PS 3.0.
My hope is that new drivers could improve my fps, as happened with FB and Perfect Mode.
