My take is modern is from 70's onward.

Its strange b\c modern day fighters are all multi role but WW 2 some fighters weren't so, and were more specific.

Modern is an extremely relative term. For example, modern European history begins during or before the French Enlightenment period, IIRC.

They usually are...

And as for whoever compared the Lerche to the Harrier, I'd suggest that they don't repeat that around here, there are are a lot of people about that used to build the thing (the Harrier I mean - I'm only a few miles from the old Hawker factory - now gone, and replaced by a housing estate).

C-47 = C-47 (there are a lot of them still flying...)

P-51 = F-35

P-38 = F-35

P-40 = F-35

F4F = F-35

You can't classify modern aircraft like WW2 era ones, for a start there are no modern boom zoomers. Really there are just two types of modern aircraft;
Bomber e.g B-2 and TU-25
Fighter-Bomber e.g Typhoon and JSF

On what basis?

I will not take part, but for me the F6F is more for the F/A-18 and the Corsair more to the F-14, despite that the Hornet is a superior all around ground powder and feature capabilitys like SEAD and anti shiping that the Tomcat not, but in the other aspects seems somewat acceptable to me.

but if we take in consideration only WWII loadout: bombs and rockets, both would risk to say that both are comparable. the F-14, ops I mean... the Corsair is more faster, big and less maneuverble, but tactics are everything, though not less letal. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

a more faster, longer range figther and a more nimble and all around in performance one, really looks somewat acceptable.

Beautiful signature Wildnoob but I am afraid you are breaking the Forum Rules with it. It has to be reduced to no more than 500 x 150 and can not exceed 60kb.
