View Full Version : Aces Artwork: A pair of Seafires - IL2-MAT Manager v2.20 W.i.P

Hi all,

I was experimenting with the new RN lettering options for the new version of IL2-MAT Manager and discovered some beautifull Seafire skins complete with roundels but no lettering on www.flying-legends.net (http://www.flying-legends.net)

I tweaked the postioning of the new lettering to fit the position of the fusilage roundels and here's the results :

So the by turning off the game type RN roundels and selecting the appropriate lettering option you will be able to select either style/postion of lettering to match one of these skins as well as an option to select lettering positioned around the game type RN roundel if desired.

I've done my best with th position of the red "7" squadron code but it is impossible to position it closer to the roundel. If there were two MAT files for left and right then that would be an entirely different matter http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif .

Cheers and regards

PS. I have lightened both these screenshots to better display the serial numbering

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Great work Ace. BTW is there a chance for adding more numbering/lettering options for Japanese a/c?

Thanks guys,

I'm looking into the Japanese numbering again to see what else might be possible. I did do some experimental tail numbering for those aircraft that have their numbering on the tail. This was, IMO, less than satisfactory and I'm limited (as always) to where the game places such lettering and also the postitioning within the area itself. The Japanaese lettering positions in the game are a bit of a mess. No promises but I'll see what I might be able to do.

If you have any special wishes for Japanese lettering/numbering please post example pictures which clearly show the position and style of such and the aircraft model(s) that it refers to. As I said the ability to change these are very limited but I need to see some historical examples.

Best Regards

Thanks Ace.

Actually I dont have any knowledge whatsoever about historical Japanese numbering/lettering on their a/c. I was only wondering if it's not too hard to do to add weathering/fading plus various colors to current Japanese markings.

It's a bit "mismatch" - sorry for the expression - to see weathered Japanese roundels with a fresh looking number http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I see what you are saying, I'll have a look into the posibilities of producing some weathered Japanese numbers and the necessary program coding/ MAT file editing. Will be thousands of MATs though !.

You're the ace m8 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually I was going to offer you my help in making tga files for the numbering but I dont think my skill is enough for the weathered/faded looks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks again.
