Funny thing...I went on XBox live to play a friend on Burnout... (I'm 35 btw).. and before I could get back in to require a password, a 15 yr old jumped into my game... I tried to get out of the game, but he was persistent that I play him, so I did... and I ... well... his car was totalled (road rage) .. and he asked me what grade I was in.. LMAO... and I had to tell him I was 35! HA HA HA... I was laughing so hard.. cause he insisted there was 'no way'!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That was hilarious. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I love hearing from some of the older guys that I work with and how they say that my 8 to 12 year old can really play them video games or they are the best I have ever seen at a video game. I had the chance to play one of these prodigies a year ago and his dad was bragging on him so much. We played Halo and after I was through with him he realized that gameing is not just for kids anymore. I actually had to take it easy on this kid,and I am not really that good at Halo.
We always get these youngsters in Rainbow and they do the typical Pray and spray type game play. I love these types because it frustrates them when you take your time and kill them everytime.

Har har har. In battlefield 2 I'm quite surprised at the number of women (Or in a few select cases, 14 year old girls, I kid you not.) are in squads that I join.

Honestly, I'm not very surprised at these numbers. I've known for a long time that gaming is no longer "Kid stuff." To this day, I still play railgun CtF Quake 3 with my dad. And yes, he is awesome. A crack shot with a rail gun!
And even my sister plays video games, abeit not as much (Okay, nowhere near as much.) as me. She's still pretty good at SSBM though.

Some people just don't see it, some people believe the media, some people have been brainwashed by Jack Thompson, but not me. I've known that gaming wasn't "Just for kids" for years.

It's interesting to think about, really. I'll be 40 come December. People my age or perhaps just a couple of years older were the first to really have access to video games while they were growing up. I was in high school when personal computers first came out. There are a lot of people older than I am who have never really adjusted to computers and video games; they feel they did without them so they must be a frivolous waste of time. Pretty much anyone under 40 has played video games as a child. Not all of them continue playing games as an adult. Where I find it more interesting is the older people who play games. There are quite a lot of 50+ year old gamers who play strategy and sim games.

While not 50+, being older (44 and yes, I remember the advent of video games of all sorts, I was in high school at the time), I have an affinity for simulation/strategy type games like R6/GR, the Silent Hunter series, NASCAR Racing Series and flight sims. Arcade style gameplay like UT or Quake just doesn't float my boat. There are many more like me.

The worst part is, marketing departments of companies seem to think so and games get designed for them instead. 99% of all games are are designed to appeal to the masses while those who really want a game that is different from those have few choices. What makes it worse is when games that were different become mainstream and lose the focus that they had previously (Lockdown is a prime example and GR for the consoles).

It's too bad that developers have to ignore the fact that not all gamers are 10 year olds looking for explosions. Older gamers aren't the only ones looking for a brain-teaser, either: I myself would LOVE to see the R6 series return to it's stragety-based roots. The GR games aren't as realistic now, for sure, but are they bad games? It's no Halo. Around 3 to 4 bullets can kill you.
So is it really all that unrealistic? Also, GR3 looks to be much less arcadey.
I guess I'm in the minority: I like slower paced stragety as well as fast paced shoot-em-ups. Especially when these two meet in games like GR2, Battlefield 2, even Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. But apparently, according to developers, games can be in the arcade spectrum, or the middle, but NEVER in the realisim spectrum.

The average game is targeted for ages 18-35. So that is why we get all these crappy, soft porn games that the older generation thinks is a corrosion of our morals, and the younger generation thinks is "nasty". All these developers need to recognize....http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Hey. I'm a youngin, and I don't pray and spray..

lol

Anyway, getting owned by a girl in a game is a good ice-breaker.. You know what I mean.

"Wow, incredible headshot, you own."
"Thanks"
"Yeah, where do you live?"

Seriously though, I was playing GR2 once, and a girl joined. One guy in the server was like, "Oh, what are you playing in." The girls said, "uhhh, clothes." The guy says, "Oh man, I'm sitting here in boxers rubbing myself in oil."

I'm like, what in the world... lol

The only times I've played with a girl online were: Once on PT there was a little girl, she was probably around 7-8 so.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif it was actually kina funny, but anyway.....Once I joined a game in PT and it was all girls.

I'm 13 and I've been playing video games since I was about 5 or so. I am also annoyed by the annoying little (even a few years younger than me) kids on Xbox Live, I haven't had to play with them much, because, apparantley, none of them want to play CT. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
