Its horrible. The original is a real classic and if you haven't seen it I'd highly recomment it. This is a really shoddy remake with explosions, dirt bikes, and a lot of other mindless **** that doesn't belong. My 2 cents.

wasnt Dickie Attenborough in the first version?
if so, it is a classic and no re,ake could possibly do it justice.

Yes the original was a classic. The only thing I don't like about the original is there is no way that thing could have taken off on skids in the soft desert sand, that was fakey. Other than that, it was magic.

It just so happens that I am watching this movie (original) on DVD when I saw this post! and yes, Richard Attenborough is in it.

It looks awful, typical Hollywood overkill, nothing wrong with the original.

The first time I saw the trailer, it kinda reminded me of this movie (that was based on a true story) about a plane crash in the snow/mountains and the survivors resort to canibalism to survive. Cant remember what it was called.

I kinda figured this one would be so so.

The movie is called "Alive" and it shook me up when I first saw it. The original, not the remake that is.

The original was great. On a side note, James Stewart flew bombers as a reserve pilot of the USAAF.

You can't compair the two movies. The star cast in the 1965 orginal was a great charactor driven drama. A well done movie to be sure. The new release is a Action film. And is entertaining in its own right for a Saturday afternoon get away. And its fun to imagine a C-119 (I think)flipping over and over in a sand storm to end up crash landing right side up.
Some Trivia: From 1965 Movie. The plane they leave on at the end of the film was to be a C-82 Boom. The stunt of taking off was too dangerous, so legendary stunt pilot Paul Mantz was asked to merely come in low, run his landing gear along the ground, then take off again, simulating a take-off. On the second take the plane crashed and was destroyed, killing Mantz. As all main footage had already been shot, a North American O-47A observation plane from the Air Museum was substituted for the remaining close-ups.

Dennis Quaid is also a Lic pilot. And Steward Retired as a Brig. Gen from the USAF. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

One of my all-time favorite movies, though I haven't seen it in years. I remember the first time I saw it on the "Late Show", I was absolutely spellbound.
