Righto, i've had enough. It's making my blood boil, i'm kicking the cat and losing sleep at night over the frustration....

is it possible to stop all (or some of) those annoying 'message received' messages that stop your 1024 time compression? the ones added to imitate real life broadcasts, but the actual events arent actually scripted into the game so they're just speedhumps whilst cruising over to the east coast of usa rather than adding to the atmosphere.

i'm getting RSI from hammering the + button back up to 1024 every few seconds.

I have asked the same question some time ago. Quoting Mittelwaechter...

"Neuer Funkspruch, Herr Kaleun!"

Intensive radio message combos describing german war success until end of 1941.
Often twice a day, later in the evening hours.
Mixed in are German U-Boot and British Navy messages.
Really bad - all radio chatter is repeated when loading a savegame.

Nothing is important.

Only original messages about available bases in France... are of interest.

Hit NumPad* (if active) and jump instantly back to your max TC.

(to activate add this to your ...\commands_??.cfg under [Cmd5]:

Key1=0x6A,R,"Npad *"

and the magic function appears)

Smile

You can install the original Radio Messages by replacing C:\Programs\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns \Campaign\messages_de.txt with original data.

If you leave the radio unmanned you won't recie ve any radio messages. I found this out by accident.

But you also won't receive real convoy reports, and that just won't do!

This is a wierd one! I just finished a patrol and had to post this, 'cause, I also thought all the radio messages were baloney. I was cruiseing around the AM 52 sector when i recieved a message "from U93 to U73. convoy. AM41. course east. 5 knots". I realise that random messages with sub ID's are common but what confused me was my sub IS U73. 30MIN. later I get a message from BDU specifically ordering MY sub to intercept. Confused but obedient, I plot an intercept course and race to intercept. When I was within 1 or 2 hours from intercept a contact icon appeared, percisely where it should have been,BUT,get this! The usaul icon is square right? This one was round! So I close on this convoy and discover a Type IX Uboat trailing it! The convoy had two ships in it burning but still running in loose formation.
I only had four torps. left but sunk two ore carriers with them. After turning for homeport, another icon appeared ,somewhat north of the original contact, when i clicked on it,it id'ed itself as Type IX sub. I been playing the SH3 stock version for years and now with GWX for about a month. When did the radio start to mean something? I read a ton of the posts on this forum and never saw anything or heard anyone have any radio messages like these? Is this a fluke? Thoughts anyone? please!!? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Wow!No clue, really... I have myself chased these radio contacts, but found absolutely nothing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Guess you got very lucky, since GWX DOES have convoys trailed by U-boats. Maybe this was a scripted event?

Can you post the game date, so someone can verify if they get the same one at the same date? Since if they do, it's scripted http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Of Course Sir,
Left St. Nazaire on Jan. 5 1941 and returned on Feb. 15 1941. Im still kicking myself for not saveing the thing but I figured it was a big goose hunt.
Ahh...Foehammer-1? You wouldn't be able to tell me how to screenshot and retrieve them could you? I'm afraid I'm not that computer savy and I think it's a shift key thing but I'm clueless how to retrieve them. Thanks in advance!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Someone else should answer that. I haven't used the default screenshotting in ages.

I use Fraps. There's a trial version on the internet, or you can get a full version rather easily. I won't tell you how http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

Fraps lets you record videos from your games, and take multiple screenshots, and the full version saves them in any format you want. That's what I do...

And if it's only one shot that you will take, just Print Screen it and paste into Paint http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks Foe, the * advice from Mittelwaechter was really good to have, and works.

Mr thomsen, what I do is hit the "Print Screen" button (upper right on my keyboard, with Scroll Lock and Pause/Break keys). I then minimize the program (Ctl + Alt + Esc or Ctl + Alt + Del), then open MSPaint and Ctl + V (or go through the dropdown menus) to paste the screenshot into MSPaint. Then save under whatever name you want. It seems to work okay. I assume there's a similar method for Photoshop or others, but I only have MSPaint.

You don't have to minimize and paste immediately if you're in the middle of action, just so long as you don't hit the "PrintScreen" button a second time before pasting.

This mod drastically reduces the number of radio messages you receive during the campaign to a total of just 229 which are all relevant to missions scripted into GWX or important to your decision making process (e.g. location of supply ships). WBNN is designed for GWX but will work with any mod.

Exclamation [REL] RadioLog_Expanded v2 w/daily doubles
Introducing the Daily Double versions of RL_E

Daily Double will only send/transmit messages no more then twice in a day.
That means you may receive more than one in a group sent to your (M) screen. And then you can veiw them when you like. This limits message t/c breaks as well.
There are two pre-set times as d/l options (0600 & 2300) or (1100 & 2100) as well as the regular (standard) version included.
With a good text editor & find/replace you can now change the times to whatever you like. Except for about 10-15% with one timer left alone because there may be only 2-3 messages that day. All the pre-set times end in **00 so if you do a find/replace it won't affect any date (year.month.day) setting.

Dare I say it? But, I miss my radio messages. I'm playing SH3+GWX3 and on my first patrol, which I just finished, I only received one radio message. When I was playing with GWX2, I got many messages, including some useful info (such as which ships were valid targets and which were not). I don't know if I clicked a button to cut the chatter or not, but I'd like to get the messages back. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

Well then ensure you have the GWX radio data in ...\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns\Campaig n\messages_en.txt.

If you play in german language it's the messages_de.txt.

The text file is there. I've got a feeling that I clicked some setting, somewhere that cut down on the messages. Luckily, it's not a deal breaker.

Thanks for the advice, Mittelwaechter
