Have to say I was quite impressed this time. I now have a high end system so could switch on all the bells and whistles and it's pretty intense stuff with convincing graphics. Have ordered the full game as a result.

Multiplayer is awesome (played the beta multiplayer on the 360). For once a game where a thin wall doesn't count as cover. The game models how each object/terrain feature effects the velocity of the rounds. So 7.62 AP cuts right through walls etc. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif and to a lesser extent 5.56mm

A sniper upstairs camping in a room? No problem...just let rip into the floorboards with your M249

Anyway will be great for me because Ive always had a thing for .50cal Sniper Rifles. Which rounds go through one side of a house and out the other http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Loved CoD2. Was CoD3 available on PC?

COD3 was for 360 only. I heard it bummed....

I tried the demo, looks good, feels good.. , i liked what i`v seen and will more likely buy it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

tried it and.....was not too impressed. I may stand alone here, though. I actually found it a bit "too" immersive. If the action is so fast paced you have no idea where is what, that may be is more realistic, but I suppose I am growing to old for this kind of stress.

Tried to start it three times ... three failures. Didn't bother afterwards (rarely a game produces errors on my PC. Weird! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif ).

I played the PC demo through and really enjoyed it. I read that there will will be a realism option for multiplay were one well placed round will kill. Also a shot to the leg will leave you laying helpless until help arrives. I was actually quite pleased to find it was not as arcadish as I thought it may be and I thought it would feel too much like a console game just ported over.

I have not tried the 360 version but can easily see myself picking up a copy for both PC and 360.

I was impressed how smooth the demo ran with settings maxed (some max settings not available in demo) at 1680x1050. A demo usually has some kind of performance issue but this one did not and this is a very good sign of things to come.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif Terrible. Feels like a 2001 ww2 shooter with 2007 graphics. Only thing it misses is a counter of the foes you kill. Must be more than rambo. And terribly staged. Unless you follow the exact path the scenario wants you to, then it doesn't progress. You keep killing the enemies and more keep spawning at the same location. Simulation of modern warfare? hahahahaha http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

And thats all I really care about for just about all games I play. If I want good single player experience I will rely on games such as Half Life 2 and the up an coming Crysis.

It was by a different team rather than infinity ward. Felt more like a MoH game and certainly no where near as good as CoD2. 4 is by Infinity ward again.

I hope the single player is as good as COD2 as I have no interest in MP. I got IL2 for that.

Count me out then. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I absolutely will NOT play FPS games on a console anymore. I'll leave that for my kids who could care less about the unrivaled accuracy of the mouse/keyboard control option.

And no multiplayer? pffftt. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif

I got the unreal tournament 3 beta, there isn't that much improvement o n the gameplay sadly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif, well they only offered a few modes of play anyways, got to see what the real demo is like.

The graphics are the best in its class (except maybe for crysis)

But all this talk of CoD4 has convinced me to grab the demo!http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

More like Modern ****. I'll likely not touch CoD4.

CoD2 was a disappoint for me. As soon as I saw Stuka's doing arcade loop bombing runs + dogfighting British planes, that was pretty much it for me (To kids that must be so cool! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif ) . Also, no German/Italian/other Axis campaign = Failure. Good thing I have IL-2 to fly for virtually any side.

I bought a 360 to get the game as I play COD all the time online on the PC and it was the only way to get COD 3 I found it rocked, graphically wise it was stunning... the wood scene made it for me, tons of real looking grass to crawl through as opposed to the paultry tuft you normally get on a PC, positioned under a bush to snipe before advancing and looking at the bush, it had acorns on the branches as well as flowers in the grass etc........ amount of detail was staggering as was speed and gameplay......

As for the accuracy and kids play on a console comments, well what is a PC if its not a big gaming kids toy with just a different innacurate control system......... if you want total accuracy, reality and immersion go to Iraq

And that is exactly why I play console games. Not everyone has $30,000 to blow on new computer parts, or the means to get that money, so being able to play on an 360 or PS3 means I can get smooth frame rates with everything on high settings.

I'm still playing the COD1 and like it.It reminds me alot of "Medal of Honor".....I remember when demo's were just a few MB large...This demo for COD4 is 1.30gig...Might as well download the full game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

The full game will probably be 3x as large... I downloaded the Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault demo today (Got bored), and almost fell out of my chair when I saw it was 530mb. Unzipped!

The Airborne demo, on the other hand, was nearly a gig and a half, zipped!!

Postures? You get the full range? Able to low crawl and fire from prone?
Able to crouch and duckwalk?

M_Gunz
10-17-2007, 08:45 PM
In 93 I had Seal Team on a 386 and then 486. There were 4 postures from stand to prone and they
moved in posture. You could set your formation pattern and the AI mates would adapt that to the
surroundings as they moved. The command & control allowed to split the group of 6 and them use
different waypoints and actions, it was easy to keep the team alive and effective.

Later on I had Rainbow 6 where my first mate crosses a doorway and is shot, so the next one does
to until no more team in about 2 seconds flat. It was real neat except for my team ignoring each
other getting killed right in front of them, probably thinking about kippers for din-dins.

I never did try Splinter Cell series, I did have a later Rainbow 6 that still....

Well, Seal Team graphics were not exactly the best but they "worked".
It also allowed to equip freely all 6 team members and put faces on them.

It would be real good if SOW did something like that, a picture roster and group shot background
for offline and online, small pictures/avatars from the players roster. Be a trip if they were
webcam video, could converse 'face to face' as a group to plan the mission and you'd really get
to know the others as a bonus.

They were asked about that and their response was along the lines that the maps are too small to support player driven vehicles and the game is based on light infantry combat.
