I can see it now...Traversing the Maps like New Guinea in 45 minutes to bomb a target...having to circle endlessly over your own airbase for 3 hours to get to 30 000 feet because you cant really do it gradually as you go towards the target...the infinite number of dimwits that will fly a 1000m altitude online and dive bomb into their target...Cant wait!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Bombers are great for air field denial....what you do is this....get your mates to shoot up all the AA around an anemy base...and bandits....then land a bomber on their runways...preferably one with lots of guns...and shoot anyone who spawns http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I prefer to call it "Simulated Paratrooper airfield denial"<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I don't know...The AI can get to 30,000 feet in around 5 seconds.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Is that the waist gunner's slot? Looks like it from the wooden ammo boxes. Anyway he's the right size to go wandering thru a '17. Jeez I like to have never have gotten up the ladder & in the hatch. For something so big looking, it was made for migdets.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Right you are icrash! My son and I had the pleasure of touring the EAA's Aluminum Overcast and he had a blast. I love the look in his eyes in this photo (every seven-year old ought to have a .50cal!)

I got to tour Collingsworth Foundation's Nine 'O Nine and shot some pics. Cockpit, ball turret from inside, bad pic of waist position, couple of beauty external shots; all on 35mm. Unfortunately the B-24 Dragon & HIs Tail was on workstands so I couldn't go thru it. Iv'e also got a bunch of pics from a couple of airshows and from the Lone Star Flight Museum. If ya want some let me know. I can can post some or burn 'em to cd for ya.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

...some people - on the other hand, might enjoy a dedicated bomber sim.

And I think Olegs plan was to eventually include player access to various objects in the Storm of War series...remember that?...

So - if somewhere down the road in SOW there are manable AA guns or tanks - why not bombers.

The people that would man them would be the people that wanted to man them - and they would come, Ray...if Oleg built it...they would come.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Absolutely! If there can be enough breadth in the product we may attract more than just the usual fighter flight sim fare. I think flying a fighter, flying a tactical bomber/attack aircraft, and being able to fly a heavy bomber each adds its own element to the game and on the whole they make the whole experience better.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I see just one problem with your crew erco415. Four hours to climb to altitude and reach the target. Suddenly the pilot feels a tug on his sleeve and then exclaims "WHAT! I told you to do that BEFORE we got in the plane!!!"

Another problem might be that the pilot has to turn around every 5 minutes and yell into the rear of the plane, "Settle down back there or I'm turning this thing around and we are headed straight home!!!"<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Any of you played B-17II?

Pilot, to fly the dang plane. So important he gets a co-pilot to help.
Navigator, if you want to get down to a busy job then just that can cover the bill.
That is, the kind of nav it takes to place bombs on target from way up high does.
Navigator can't be pilot while you watch through the scope to pick up your drift from
wind and mark on your map. Easy to get lost. Semi-boring as well but if you want to
simulate the pros then you gotta do the steps at least, right?
Bombardier, also gunner, a very touchy and specialized job. Could do some other job
the rest of the time, like gunner or other. He has to be good enough to fly the plane
and run the scope like navigator and could be navigator.

Two players can man a plane in IL2 series. And if there's only one then that player can
jump positions. If there is more than two positions then why not the 2nd seat player be
able to jump to the third spot and back? Cause the big boxcars had more than a few seats.

B-17II never got MP. The AI does the job of whatever slot you're not at. But you can
get up and walk about the inside. You can give aid to a downed crewmate and take his
position over.
