You guys could do a search under a username if you're so all fired suspicious of everyone. Just click the username and select 'view recent posts'. If you haven't noticed yet, we have a lot of new players. Y'all could try being nice, won't kill nobody. I promise http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

FE pilot-

Selecting aircraft- On this one, I'm gonna have to direct you to the manuals which are in your game folder. You'll probably get the hang of it though, by clickling the button under "Quick Mission Builder", and then just mosuing around, clicking on fields and buttons. But the manual is the place to start here, for basic instruction

As for which plane you want to fly, well, strictly speaking for fighters, they ALL go fast, and they ALL turn well- it's what they were meant to do, you see. Some turn better than others of course, and others go faster than some planes

What you want to do is pick one you like. You'll see BS here about how such and such is a "N00b plane", which is just another way of saying the plane is good, and 'difficuluty snobs' think they are too good for it

If you can't decide, try an La-5fn for starters. Relatively easy to fly, good performance, and good turning ability. Relatively easy to land, too. It also has full trim, if I recall correctly<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Rule 1: Read the manual
Rule 2: Read the Unofficial Community Created FAQ (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base&cat=8)

It's worth investing a little time doing this, the rewards for patience with this sim are great.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I don't mean to be cynical, but it just strains my imagination to believe that someone who can figure out how to order the 1946 DVD which isn't available in stores, can create an account and post to an online forum, can install said DVD and get the game to run yet can't figure out how to click on a button next to "Quick Mission Builder", select a plane from a pull down menu and click another button that says "fly".

Somethings fishy.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Actually, IT IS AVAILABLE IN STORES, just not in the US. Some of our guys picked it up in Walmart in Canada.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Get a real pilot in there, one that flies by the seat of their pants and he will make it do things that the 'brains' are still denying."

Welcome FE_Pilot.

In the root game folder you'll find a manual in .pdf format. You'll also find a good aircraft guide there. That guide will teach you basics about all the flyables in the game, (performance, weapons and cockpit layout).
For quick shooting, in the main menu in the game click on Quick mission builder and you can setup fast action dogfights and some basic ground attack missions from there.

LA-5FN is a good plane for start.

Have fun. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

But what's the pay-off for you, from treating FE pilot like that? For real, what's in it for you? You're alerting others to somebody you think is 'fishing', so we don't all waste 30 precious seconds trying to help? I don't get it

So you're cynical (whether or not you wish to appear that way or not). Well I hate it when people gang up on other people. We both have problems. Mine's a touch more constructive http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

FE_pilot, try the Il-2 series 3 (the one just above the 'Field Mod' version in the drop-down list). That's the one with the 23mm Cannons Of Ultimate Doom, decent agility, and generally pleasant to fly. It's very satisfying, throwing those 23mm VYa cannon-shells into a He111 or Bf109. Earlier aircraft had 20mm cannon, later aircraft have a gunner, which really weighs you down...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You can try the Il-10 as well. It is essentially a light bomber but, it got good speed. It is a very easy and forgiving aircraft. It is good for learning to fly. The same goes for the SBD-5 (Dauntless dive bomber)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I just got back form school and im now reading through the aircraft guide, i havent started to fly yet, just looking at the il10, ki-27, and p40 in the aircraft guide. also i noticed that the readme file is blank, not a big problem, seems that the ki-27 is the slowest aircraft from the top speed i saw, the lerche is intresting to say the least. The manual is very specific in some areas like when to change mixture and pitch.(much harder than first eagles). Well now im reading the guide at airwarfare.com. Then im going to try my first plane the ki-27, im reading some articles on it from wikipedia.com and it seems that its going to be the aircraft i start out with.

I know most of the keys from the manual like to start the engine is I, My saitek joystick, will the throttle be reconized so i can start out with it or do i have to map in the cotrols? Also will my rudder work to or does that also have to be assigned in the controls menu.

Guess the only thing to do now is start flying. If i have any more questions i will be asking theme here.

The game should recognize your throttle and rudder. if it doesn't no big deal. go to controls area in game(while flying esc\controls)
and in thebottom area of the menue you'll have a section called "hotas". Just click the area to the right of the rudder for example and a box will open. Now just move your rudder and the game will recognize and assign it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
