Gentlemen,it would be much appreciated if someone would make a detailed line by line explanation of all the conf.ini settings.I think many people will be very grateful to you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif
As for my question,i'd like to know if there is any way of getting the benefits of the perfect mode-the much increased visibility distance, which is quite important for the FR crowd http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif,without actually enabling the shaders,as they do carry a heavy fps drop for many people(personally,i prefer higher aniso over some shimmering water http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif )
Please help...the VEF junkies will never forget you! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
(something tells me that TexLandLarge has sthing to do with it)

As you can see,the visibility distance is increased greatly

The only thing that seems to be changed between 'Excellent Ground' and 'Perfect Ground' is HardwareShaders=1 rather than 0 in conf.ini. All the texture and light settings stay the same.
'Perfect' does give you more indication of the far away landscape for navigation, but I don't think it would change the dot distance that planes appear.
I don't know if you could turm some of the other settings down whilst keeping 'Perfect' on, in an effort to improve frame rates?

Shtirly

See what Coastie has done in the conf here. May be just what you're looking for.
