just interested in what moves other people and especially online pilots...

I'm a big (and good) bomber pilot, so I don't mind level bombing missions with lots of level bombers and escorting fighters. I also like engaging in combat vs. overwhelming odds, guns to guns though. I once shot down 7 planes whilst flying an He-111 in a coop. Now THAT was a lot of work. (I managed to hit the target and bring my crew home alive too)

Absolutely--online coops are the closest thing to flying real WWII missions, especially when comms are available. You should give it a try on Hyperlobby if you haven't done so.

slipBall--I do not belong to a squad, but play coops all the time. In my experience, non-affiliated players are always very welcome. Perhaps you were trying to join a pre-arranged match between squads or an on-line war for registered players. Hope you'll decide to give coops another try.

same here, and I don't have the time...or real desire, to spend with a squad.
Not that I'm unsociable or anything.
But so many Squads/Guilds/Clans always degrade into power struggles and ego pumping posturing.

I gave that up 30 yrs ago in High School.

Most Co-ops don't want unknowns joining
So any I do are privates that I host....
only letting in people I know, and becoming the same person who locks ME out.
Ironic, huh?

that doesn't hold true, COOP1 gameslot seems to launch in the HL General Room with just about anybody willing to join

on-line war rooms are different of course

CooP is the only thing. The rest is nonsense.

Coops are cool although they are a bit too generic.NNFL/EAF guys really do great coops though.

What I hate about some generic coops is that scenario is supposedly nice ,then next thing you know it is airstart 2km from the enemy@2500m.Basic elements of coops are taken from it that way.Coops are all about obtaining good positions, trying out basic team tactics and using your planes` advantages.

unfortunatly the big time of the COOP based (if the missions were generated or handmade) Onlinewars seems over http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

sure, there are still some - but not as much pilots take part as in the "good old days"......

to summerize it:
it was a blast, lot of teamwork !
and even carrieroperations made sense than , because the vessels moved !

So much focus on public coops. Private coops with a small bunch of mates is also very cool, even just one other. And you can create custom missions to your liking.

Fly scorched earth and nothing else in CO-OPS . It's all i fly apart from the off aerial quake match . Scorched Earth is by far the most realistic and enjoyable mode in PF

Sorry, I misunderstood you. Well, don't be put off because of that. There is one place where you are always welcome to try out short coop missions. One primary reason I got into this, is that DF servers became boring over the time, but I cannot join a squadron to take part in online wars. I guess I am not alone with that problem. However, not being in a squadron shouldn't take the nicest and most immersive way of playing this game away from us.

Hence this...
