What's that, CFS3? I like the Ki-27 and Yak's open canopys!

LS nice bait, well presented, but ultimately doomed to failure, I guess you got a bad case of pre-patch nerves. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Well i have FS2004:ACOF which is okay. These games dont hold a crown to Forgotten Battles. Even Il-2 is better

Nice screens Leadspitter. Yea the resolution on that Yak skin is great, as are all the planes and skins. I'd often considered giving Cfs2 a try, but I just hate to get into another game sometimes.

its hard to kick some things out of the HD isn't it LS. I have every prop sim I have ever owned still in weither or not I still play it or not. I have Janes ww2 fighters in only for the museum and the interviews with real pilots. I wish I could figure out how to save them in a format other than leaving the game installed.

There are many aspects of IL2 PF that is better than CFS2, but maps, external models, weather, wind, and 3D object count aren't among them. There are far more historical scenarios that can be done with the MS product, and the open architecture made it possible to add many planes that were not in the original.

It's funny how Grummans and Lockeed planes, and ships can be added to 3rd party MS products for free, but OLeg apparently can't put a cockpit on an existing Avenger for free or add planned ships without fear of litigation. Hmmmm...

Oh yes, Leadspitter, those were great planes and skins indeed...

Duffort's models mixed with the 1% technology gave CFS2 quite something but it could still never compete with il2...

only the skins, but not the flightmodels..

Great screens!

Keep in mind that CFS2 is older and may have been before the legal feeding frenzy.... plus I do believe MS got hit up too... and thier pockets are deeper.. that may be one reason why they are bailing from the full sim business and sticking with comercial because they have such a monopoly on it.

I also disagree with you about the models...... externally and internally no MS product between 1,2 & 3 holds a match to this series. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

For as old as that game is it still holds up fairly decent. I had to give it up though after I found out that Il2 didn't have collision bubbles wrapped around the entire plane. Also the gunnery struck me as a little on the easy side. Still for its time it was an outstanding sim which made CFS3 an even bigger let down.

The external models of some addons compare very well with IL2 IMO, but it is obvious that any Tom, ****, or Jane can add whatever they want for free to CFS2 without fear of litigation (at least for now - LOL). It is a bit frustrating that Oleg cannot do the same (for free mind you). Too bad Northrop and Lockheed apparently have a license on history, and have chosen to try to get blood from a turnip.

Jeebus, so many jagged lines on those screenies.
Either the game is lame, or you need a new vid card.

Is there any hope that perhaps the modelers will win against these companies in court and we will win the right to model both physically and digitally anything we want that is no longer in production? I mean these companies are out to make money like UBI is and I understand why they would want the rights to the F-22, F-18, Apache Heli., etc...

But the Mustang, Lightening, T-Bolt, and Fortress quite literally wrote Americas history and played a pivotal role in our victory of WWII. On top of that its not like Lockheed is selling the P-38 still I mean geeze. Next thing you know there going to make a movie and they buy rights to everything. During Tom Cruise's new BoB movie he'll fly the Coca Cola Spitfire and BMW will buy the rights to the Me-109. It will be Hallmark's Battle of Britain. Sound Crazy? We'll thats basically whats happening with these royalties... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

IL2 hits it out of the park but I wont belittle CFS2. Had a lot of fun with that sim especially the 1 percent FMs. Met some good people online at the Zone too.
